I think it's more of a trend in the Western media. In India, the reverse is more true ie. male actors are cast alongside foreign women.

I don't think it correlates with reality so much as most Indian girls (at least here in the UK) don't really have a serious interest in White men.

I guess it is not an usual combination, although the number of movies and tv series with remantic relationships between Indian girls and white men is really high, I can name easily 20 movies and series with this combination.

I've never seen those movies. Didn't know they existed.
Perhaps Bollywood wants to introduce American audiences to Indian actors and actresses and is bankrolling these films you listed as a foot in the door?
Not counting the movies and tv shows you listed (that's make believe), I've never seen American white men with India Indian women, but I've seen three couples in the USA who were all India Indian men with American white women, in real life. And the three women were (natural) blondes.

Bollywood hardly has enough cash itself to run the industry here, that they would be sending Indian actresses across. Apart from Bride and Prejudice all the other actresses used in Hollywood films are unknowns and non-established on the scene here. Even Frida Pinto was unknown to India, till S.Millionaire.

Those movies are all American. (Outsource 1, Outsource 2, Bride and Prejudice, 30 seconds or less, ER, Velentine Day, etc)

Ah okay, I've never seen the movies, wouldn't know if they were famous actresses or not. Before HDTV I used to get a tv channel that showed Bollywood/Indian music videos, and that's why Bollywood came to my mind. I heard of a slumdog or slumlord millionaire but I didn't see that movie either.
Another channel (or same channel, different time slot) used to show Japanese music videos.

From the titles I know they were made in America. Never saw 'em. Just wonder who decided to produce them and bankroll them. Did you like the movies? Romances are usually better than silly gory action flicks anyway.

I don't know what America is like, but Indian women don't generally ''date'' because it goes against culture. Dating in America and the UK means that the girl usually ends up sleeping with her partner before marriage and that is a no no for many of us. This is why a lot of us just prefer to be with South Asian men

I'm a third-generation British Asian which means I speak fluent English with a proper English accent, I'm pretty well integrated in all other aspects of British life, however truth of the matter is I'm still a virgin and that's the way it's gonna be. Oh, I have interests from British men ... all the time.. but I can't take it further because my Muslim family forbids me from dating or being with White men. The reason why you see Indian men dating out more is because they can.

I suppose if Indian women became Christian (Catholic or Protestant) they would be free to date anyone they want. Or become Jewish?
And if Muslim men and women became Christian I'm sure there would be more intermarriages.
It depends on which is stronger, your particular branch of faith/religion, or your love for someone. There have been times I was in love to the point of almost converting.

From what I've seen, Indian women in America if they do go for ''White men'', usually end up with Jews. Perhaps this is because Jewish men are percieved in a more positive light having better morals and work ethic, compared to the average white American male. It could be because Indian-American women and Jews work in the same places together and have more opportunity to meet. Anyhow here are some real-life examples:

To be honest, I don't even know any Indian women. I had two friends, classmates, who were from Pakistan.
I had a manager/co-worker who was from India and he was married to a blonde American woman.

edit: I remember my mom telling me that my first teacher was an Indian woman who wore saris. But I only vaguely remember the teacher.

I've been told there is a Bangladeshi community in my neighborhood, once in a while I'll hear (Indian/Bangladeshi?) music coming from the park a few blocks away.

Better morals and work ethic?
Maybe that's your experience.

I suppose. Christians in India are a lot more free and Westernized. The thing is that Muslim women can ONLY marry Muslim men, whereas Muslim men are free (according to religion) to marry practicing Christian and Jewish women too. It's more a cultural thing than a religious thing in India though...women irrespective of their caste/culture/religion just have a tougher time marrying White men as opposed to vice versa unless they come from rich and progressive families where fathers could accept their daughters dating and marrying foreign White men.

Yes, but I think the bulk of those Indian women who marry Jewish men are Hindus. That's why the term ''Hin-Jew'' was coined. This is probably more commonplace in New York which has large numbers of Indians Jews working together and going to the same colleges. Jewish American men are stereotyped as being financially stable and career-minded making good fathers which is probably what appeals to these Indian women and which is why their Hindu families accept Jewish son-in-laws.
