It is a good question. If they are half white, then they should be able to be called also as dark whites, as they have got birth right to be acknowledged from both races.

By the way have you ever called Obama as dark white ? If no, why not ?
No, but I generally don't refer to peoples race anyway unless it's in some specific context. I don't like to assume peoples heritage or second guess how they identify.

Then you got many mixed looking people there, by the way in these pictures she looks darker than herself, l think she got tan thats why, she got other pictures with lighter skin colour, where it is evident, she can be just mixed.

I think they start calling a person mixed when their SSA component isn't that notable.

Id say the cut off point for light skinned in the Afram community is this.

Light skinned with still visibly West African influenced facial features.

Looking "mixed" starts when the phenotype is less SSA influenced. This is when most Aframs think this person would be mixed.

Um there are Light skinned blacks in Africa with no Euro ancestry
how would you know?

or are you wrongly assuming that because they are in Africa they couldn't possibly be of mixed heritage?

also take into consideration that the light skin can be a result of being mixed with other non-euro light skinned populations

just something to think about

In my area, a lot of mixed raced people will just be called 'lightskinned black'.

For instance, Alicia Keys,Barack Obama,Halle Berry, Lauren London are called 'lightskinned black'.

In my area, someone who looks like Cassie would be called 'mixed raced.'

It is typically, the black/asian or black/mestizo mixes that are called 'mixed' in my area.
Ye but thats just stupid, its almost like the black people who refer to obvious mixed race people like halle berry and alicia keys, as Black, don't want to acknowledge any European heritage and just claim these 'light skinned' people as just black.

Many many Aframs are mixed anyway, just compare the majority of the people of Nigeria or Ghana and Gambia to Aframs!

I don't think it's that perfectly simple, but I generally agree. Sometimes, you might be considered mixed if you have very diluted SSA features as you point out, an apparent mish-mosh of facial features from different groups, have an obviously looser natural hair texture, or are viewed as acting somehow "non-black." This second "must be mixed" category could include people who are genetically mostly SSA but phenotypically display with very clear signs of consistent admixture, making them appear FGM or highly mixed MGM. I'm 50% African, remember?

not all biracials look the same , the more mixed they look the more people would identify them as such. someone like mohombi for me is mixed for instance.

Like someone said "light skinned black" when the euro admixture is far back/happened through rape.
Mixed: Mulatto or Quadroon who has a white parent/grandparent they know about.

When I was once posted, many people believed me to be about 50% SSA. Of course, I wasn't.

Nah. I am happy with the read at 70% SSA. That's pretty accurate and halfway between my parents in terms of SSA. Of course, looks are something else. My father could be your father's son and my mother...don't get me started with the pseudo-cubana.

Then I would fall on the lighskinned black as my SSA is more notable than the second pic guy and closer to the first one

Because he doesn't look like a dark white (Italian or Greek). He looks like other light skin Black folks.

I never said there werent lightskinned people in Africa with "mixed" ancestry. I said there are light skinned people in Africa who have no mixed ancestry (Mixed euro, or other). It seems you're the only one making assumptions.

These variations in skin tones amongst these Nigerians aint because they have light skinned European ancestors...

^^ in the last pic is a man from my Grandfather's tribe the lights skinned black man in the dashiki^^

With Cassie is the lesser degree. She's a mixed with Asian, Native and black, so its a bit different than someone (Mulatto) with black/white parents are more common here in America. They share similar phenotypes with those who 2 black parents, have a few EU ancestral lineages in addition.
