It is a good question. If they are half white, then they should be able to be called also as dark whites, as they have got birth right to be acknowledged from both races. |

Then you got many mixed looking people there, by the way in these pictures she looks darker than herself, l think she got tan thats why, she got other pictures with lighter skin colour, where it is evident, she can be just mixed. |

I think they start calling a person mixed when their SSA component isn't that notable. ![]() Light skinned with still visibly West African influenced facial features. Looking "mixed" starts when the phenotype is less SSA influenced. This is when most Aframs think this person would be mixed. ![]() ![]() |

Um there are Light skinned blacks in Africa with no Euro ancestry… or are you wrongly assuming that because they are in Africa they couldn't possibly be of mixed heritage? also take into consideration that the light skin can be a result of being mixed with other non-euro light skinned populations just something to think about |

In my area, a lot of mixed raced people will just be called 'lightskinned black'. Many many Aframs are mixed anyway, just compare the majority of the people of Nigeria or Ghana and Gambia to Aframs! |

Id say the cut off point for light skinned in the Afram community is this. ![]() |

Like someone said "light skinned black" when the euro admixture is far back/happened through rape.
Mixed: Mulatto or Quadroon who has a white parent/grandparent they know about. ---------- Post added 2012-06-15 at 19:51 ---------- Id say the cut off point for light skinned in the Afram community is this. |

---------- Post added 2012-06-15 at 21:32 ---------- I don't think it's that perfectly simple, but I generally agree. Sometimes, you might be considered mixed if you have very diluted SSA features as you point out, an apparent mish-mosh of facial features from different groups, have an obviously looser natural hair texture, or are viewed as acting somehow "non-black." This second "must be mixed" category could include people who are genetically mostly SSA but phenotypically display with very clear signs of consistent admixture, making them appear FGM or highly mixed MGM. I'm 50% African, remember? ![]() |

Nah. I am happy with the read at 70% SSA. That's pretty accurate and halfway between my parents in terms of SSA. Of course, looks are something else. My father could be your father's son and my mother...don't get me started with the pseudo-cubana. ![]() |
