And then Rummy resigns to boot!
Looks like gridlock for the next 2 years and then we'll be back up to our ears in gay marriage, abortions, environmentalism, and stem cell research. Not that those aren't important issues because they are! Just don't expect too many changes in the near future.
What do YOU think?

Well, we already have talk of Pelosi replacing House Committee on Intelligence head, Jane Harman with Alcee Hastings a disbarred Judge who was impeached and convicted on 8 counts including bribery and perjury in the 80s.
Sounds like business as usual. Democrats, or Republicans, it's all about the power, not the people.

It something isn't it??? Nuts! Government has gone completely sideways. It's so much about the money. I was friends with a local politician/former lawyer who was just re-elected. He lived in an apartment above his downtown office and now he has a house in the hills with a 2.75 million dollar price tag. Current congressman salary? $158,000
Things that make you go hmmmmm......

So goes my prediction I made some time ago... one prediction left to go.

You actualy predicted the reps would lose the house/senate two whole months ago! Change your name to Nostradamus! Just messin with you bro. It has been obvouis that they where going to lose the house with the senate being a little bit of a suprise.
I do disagree with your Iran prediction. People under 25 form half of Iran's population of 66 million. A very young and moderate population.Ahmadinejad's election win in 2005 over a more moderate candidate was due to the poor conditions in the country. Unemployment and inflation are in double-digits, with corruption and poverty rampant. I think the US can take advantage of the youthfull population that has a thirst for freedom.

Actually both Dems and Reps say that if Sec. Rumsfield was fired several mo's ago they would have retained both houses of Congress. No freaking way... wouldn't have made a difference. When Rumsfield said that Iraq is too complicated for the average American to understand... he wasn't shitting anybody... 'cause it was a true statement.
The war in Iraq is long over... we won sooo freaking easy... that's typical American military, but now it's a Nation Building/Police Action.... we suck at that. We suck at police actions because we will not EVER stoop to the level of the aggresser. Nobody has an answer to fix Iraq and the new incoming Sec has no clue either. Notice the Dems didn't offer the Voters a plan either and it was the number one issue on the ballot... they have no clue.
I'm betting that the President didn't fire him either. I believe out of ethics he refused to fire Sec Rumsfield for politcal gain before the election... he refused to trash any man's name just to win. Had he fired him before the election the Political and Presidential Historians would have slaughtered Sec Rumsfield in the books. The President is a good man.
My prediction w/Iran still stands... in the last year of the WH if the President sees that there is no hope, Iran will suffer for it. We may not know for 20 years or so... but as the Presidential Historians piece this out... we may realize that he saved the World from WWIII by taking out Iran's capacity for mass destruction and keeping Israel out of it.
My other prediction is... when the Republicans lose the WH... the Republican party will never see power ever again........EVER. The Dems are very smart in this area on how to gain and retain power... samething happened in the Roman Empire... the liberal wing once in power will turn up the flood of immigrants into the USA and turn the USA back into a welfare state... once alot of people are hooked on this system... this will insure Dem victory everytime. This follows the title of the essay I wrote in College 'The Decline and Fall of the American Empire'. America and Rome are similar in almost everyway... after all... our system was set up by our Founders using the Roman model. Like Rome... America cannot be destroyed by outside forces... like Rome... America will destroy itself... all because of political reasons. Greed, gain, lust for power, welfare, immigration uncontrolled, loss of National Identity and language and many other reasons will take America down.

I wrote one in college about Rome, called The rise and fall of the Roman Empire. I have some background and now I'll sit and think about the similarities for a while.
