I need to get a CPL filter, soon...

I really wish I would have picked up a nice CPL last summer. I really could have used it for this shot at my grandpa's farm.

I guess that's something I should get around to soon, especially with summer coming up and a bunch of photo shoots I have lined up with cars this summer... Stupid B+W Kaseman CPL's for being so expensive.

CPL filter is usually the first I buy http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/smile1.gif... Haven't even bought a UV filter for my 17-55 lens yet... http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/blush1.gif

Yet this picture still came out pretty nice even without CPL. Did you apply post-processing on it?

I boosted the saturation and messed with the hue.

Crappy MS Paint crop of a screen shot (don't have PS reinstalled yet, too busy).

CPL should be the first filter anyone buys imo, makes such a big difference to a landscape shot with a nice blue sky.

I don't do much landscape shooting or really anything that I would need a CPL for though on a regular basis. I need to get one for this summer though for cutting the reflections on cars during photo shoots though.

nice shot, to bad it´s not big enough to be used as a dual screen Wallpaper http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/sad1.gif

Otherwise i would have used it.

Well, let me search around on some of the others that I had. I had to crop this one pretty severely to straighten the windmill, but I might have something that would work for you...

What size?

I told a friend of mine to get a Hoya Pro-1 series filter from e-bay, they're dirt cheap there,
shipped to Israel pretty quickly and now I use it, after he gave it to me for my current
vacation in Italy, pretty nice filter and well built, I suggest that you check it out...

I will post some photos when i'm back home.http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif

No Hoya for me... I'm B+W MRC all the way. Do I really think I'd be able to tell the difference? Probally not, but it's my OCD... All my other lenses (besides my 50 1.8...) have B+W MRC filters on them, and they're generally regarded as being the best.

I've actually heard that the B+W is easier to clean than some of the Hoya filters, so who knows.

There's quite a few times that I've noticed the difference between a good B+W (Hoya Pro, Heliopan Multi-Coated, etc) and a cheap Tiffen or Promaster filter. If you're shooting in areas where there is alot of contrast and possibility for flare the multicoated filter out preforms the non-coated ones every time. It's not always super aparaent, but if you're looking or know what to look for you can see the deficencies in cheaper filters.

There's also the idea that a cheap filter will usually cost what, $20-30 at least where a top of the line (UV) multicoated filter will cost $50-60. Yeah, it's double, but I'm putting it infront of hundreds of dollars of precision engineered glass, I can deal with an extra $30 to know that it's the best available.

Agreed, Cheap filters flares like crazy under sunlight, and I can't stand them. That's why I don't even bother putting on a $60 filter on a kit lens. Only $200+ lens deserves protection :D

CPLs are also great for shooting water, or even foliage - as it knocks the reflections off.

B&W all the way for me too.
