Default Photoshop 7 or CS2??
Hiya guys

I've recently been getting into image manipulation and web design.

I've been using photoshop 7 on a trial and i am getting on well with it. I was going to buy but saw the Photoshop CS2 and saw some of the things you can do with it

so was wondering what do you guys think??

Its very expensive [no]

Might be worth getting a cheap old version then upgrading??!!

Hope you can help

Greg

IMO CS2 is vastly superior for photo manipulation in that it makes it much easier, but 7 is absolutely fine too, and very powerful.

No doubt about it, CS2 is superior. Better layer manipulation, Adobe Bridge, and other nifty features incorporated into it.

It is more expensive, tis' true... might want to research your options to see if it's cheaper going the upgrade route, or the buy it route.

So i get thumbs up from both of you!!!

I watched the demo on the adobe site and it showed one thing where you can take an image and then it will draw the rest of it into the distance!!!

I take it you cant do things like that with 7??

Also there was a bit showing you folding things up. Now i know you can do this as i've seen the tutorials but looking at the vid it seemed all you did was put a grid over it to make some mini hotspots then you just drag on specific ones!!

Very cool

So seeing i'm a novice Web designer, (Hoping to take it further over the next few years, doing lots of tutorials and making sites for my mates at the mo) Would this package be suitable??

I would check out online places like ebuyer. I was recently able to get Adobe Creative Suite CS for £117 (all Adobe's image/dtp/web apps).

And here I thought that CS2 was Photoshop too.

Are you a student? Alot of Uni's offer Microsoft and Abode products for MUCH MUCH cheaper - worth looking into as well.

For some reason I find CS-2 more bloated and slower than CS... I dunno.

Problem with the student versions is they can't be used for professional work and they have expirations on the serial numbers.
