I found a link for the supposed sequel to Valley of the Dolls on Amazon, Trix. You can check it out by going here: The Shadow of the Dolls by Rae Lawrence. Actually, Rae Lawrence wrote a great book back in the 80s called Satisfaction . It's probably a better read that Shadow but it's been out of print for years!!! http://www.80sxchange.com/forums/ima...lies/smile.gif

I read:

Misery
Less Than Zero
Pet Semetary
Interview With The Vampire (I know it was made in 1994)

That's all I can remember now.

Neely O'Hara, Jennifer North and Anne Welles, in the 80s!!! I didn't see that! http://www.80sxchange.com/forums/ima...lies/laugh.gif BTW, has anyone read the supposed "sequel" to The Valley of the Dolls by Rae Lawrence, The Shadow of the Dolls? From what I heard, it supposed to be set in the 80s, but I've also heard that it isn't any good... http://www.80sxchange.com/forums/ima...lies/smile.gif

I also read "Crimes Of The Heart" and it was later made into a film starring Jessica Lange, Sissy Spacek, and Diane Keaton. Great movie!! http://www.80sxchange.com/forums/ima...s/thumbsup.gif

I read The Rats by James Herbert, the film sucked Big Time. This reminded me that I read the Dune series by Frank Herbert, that was made into an interesting movie starring Sting and Kyle McClachlan. http://www.80sxchange.com/forums/ima...lies/smile.gif

What Books Did You Read That Were Made Into 80's Movies?

What books have you read that were made into movies in the 80s? The book doesn't necessarily had to been written in the 80s, just the movie to it was made in the 80s.

I read "The Outsiders" in junior high English class, then we watched the movie.

My cousin had a copy of "Breathless" that I read that was made into the 1982 movie starring Richard Gere.

Of course, a few Stephen King novels like Cujo.

I read and loved The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough just before I saw the mini-series version. I read Bonfire of the Vanities by Thomas Wolfe, which was excellent, before I saw the crappy movie based on it! I read all of Sidney Sheldon's 80s books which were made into mini-series. Also read Stephen King's It, Misery, Cujo, Firestarter, The Dead Zone, et. al. Let's see... also Hollywood Wives and Lucky by Jackie Collins, for that taste of sudsy trash. Shogun and Noble House by James Clavell. I'm sure there are more that I will think of later!!! http://www.80sxchange.com/forums/ima...lies/smile.gif

The only ones I can think of are Steven Kings as well.

In school we always read books and then saw the movies. I dont think any of them were made in the 80s though. In school we watched Gone With The Wind, The Great Gatsby (which may have been re-made in the 80s), To Kill A Mockingbird and great classics like that.
