Some shots on my new D300!!

Recently purchased a D300 with 18-200mm VR . The lens itself entry level but since I'm a new to photography I thought it will be a safe bet. Managed to get some half decent shots off it.

What do you guys think?

Great pictures, just bought a D300 myself, if it bloody arrives that is, to go along with my new 70-200mm f2.8 sigma mk2 and my 50mm 1.4 Nikkor prime.

Camera came today, getting a x266 4gb Compact flash card tomorrow. Unfortunately, i won't have time to do a proper play till Sunday but oh boy oh boy oh boy, what a monster of a camera [thumbup]

Very nice, the D300 is such a nice cam. As far as the 'entry' level bit of it is concerned. You can still take gorgeous pictures with entry level gear, its all the hands of the photographer opposed to the gear.

For example, I shot most of my stuff with a D70s. Which is below entry level in my opinion. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/sad1.gif

yeah i agree its more about the photographer then the camera itself a lot of the times, i've seen some ppl doing amazing (even incredible) job even with point and shoot compact camera's. where some guys take just ... "meh" pictures with dslr's.

a good camera and good gear sure does help but cameras still dont tell you how good your composition is.

... Did you just categorize D300 as an entry level camera?http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/blink1.gif

By your logic a D3 is just a pro-sumer then, isn't it?

I think he did....

But it's just perspective. Perhaps he has a fair bit of experience with photography and has a threshold that he considers minimal feature set, which maybe the D70 doesn't have.

Honestly, now that I have a few years experience with cameras, the low-end DSLR's do seem to be a bit below entry-level http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/blush1.gif

he said the lens was entry level (i just bought a 'budget' lens for £160, if you want to spend on lenses the sky is literally the limit)

Which bag are you using for the d300 and could it hold the d300 with a 70-200mm lense connected?

Well, I got the D300 from Jessops where they are offering free bag as part of some promotion. Its basic and it doesnt accomodate body with lens connected.
I suggest you look at Lowepro models as they are professional (I am looking to get one although it is a bit expensive) and some models should accomodate the 70-200mm lens connected to the D300.

Have a Lowepro one at the minute that i got with my D40x, just wondering if you would recommend any. I have a cheap dslr camera bag at work for £15 so was going to take that home and give it a try.

I had the joy of borrowing that same combo from my work mate last weekend. I have a D50 myself but this camera was something else. Here are some test shots I took.
