Default Canon EOS 40D Preview
http://www.bobatkins.com/photography...n_eos_40D.html

Looks really nice. I thought the 30D was a pretty useless upgrade over the 20D, but the 40D sounds really worthwhile (but I think I'm still going to stick with my 20D for a while, because I don't have tons of extra cash to throw around).

10 megapixel, reduced noise levels, LIVE-VIEW (can use the LCD screen instead of the viewfinder), bigger screen, 75 JPG/17 RAW 6.5FPS burst shooting, 14 bit analog to digital converter.......

1Ds MK III @ 21.1 megapixels!

So, who's in the market for a slightly used 30? I think i can scrounge eight grand for the MK III if need be... [surrender]

That's one kick ass camera, take note, I'm a Nikon freak, but I'd take this one over a D200 anytime.

It certainly looks good, but its questionable as to if its a viable upgrade from either a 20D or 30D. For anyone with a 300 or 400 series, then its worthwhile though IMHO.

It's supposed to be lower noise than the 30D/20D (really, these two are the same damn camera with a slightly different body), and better than the Rebel series without much question. It has a much improved AF system, so that's a plus. It's also said that the 40D can be used to trigger flash units without a transmitter or hot shoe extension cable, which is nice, but really, I don't think it's a worthwhile upgrade to go from one D series or one Rebel series to the next in almost any situation (i.e. 20D to 30D or XT to XTi). Unless it's a business or you're loaded, I think that would be folly. Then again, the 40D does seem very feature rich, so I'll hold my tongue until some reputable review sources get their hands on some of them. Christmas is coming, and a 40D would make a nice gift to oneself... [xmasshocked]
