JavaScript websites? Yay or Nay.

I hope this is the right place to post this.

What do you think of JavaScript being required to view a webpage properly? JavaScript seems a lot more standard then say flash- which I hate. But then again, you can't just view Java on all browsers. Even IE by default blocks it.

Would YOU have JavaScript in your site?

Are you talking about Java or Javascript? Avoid the former, embrace the latter.

JavaScript. Not java applets.

To the best of my knowledge, almost ALL pages today uses some degree of javascript, mostly for ads serving, widgets and AJAX transaction. I've tried turning off JS (noscript for FF) and browsing the web becomes very very limited.

So my answer is yes, I can't live without JS, but that doesn't mean I LIKE JS.

As a side note, JS performance on Firefox is much better than that of IE7.

IE is faster in some stuff, Firefox in others. Javascript isn't all a bad thing. As long as it provides functionality and degrades gracefully, there is no problem whatsoever.
