This is for dermatological use. We take pictures of all kinds of skin problems close-up. We need detailed sharp pictures of tiny things like acne. But nothing truly professional. Just generally zoom-in, click and result is good sharp picture of tiny objects. It probably won't be as good as this - http://www.pbase.com/duncanc/image/21538817 But also consider that photograph takers are not professionals and won't use things such as tripod. We also want something small in size IF possible. Please, give us choices even if the camera is somewhat bulky. The price range is within $500. Thanks in advance.

Any camera with a macro function will do it just fine. Pick up a canon powershot or something of the like for cheap and you'll be fine.

I would say a used pentax *ist ds/ds2/dl/dl2 and a tamron 70-300mm (1:2 macro at 300 mm).

Around $300 for the camera and ~$160 for the lens.

70mm is a pretty long focal length even if the lens has good macro capabilities. I'd err on the side of something that's a bit too short (rather than long) and less cumbersome, as I'd imagine that these rooms are probably pretty tight.
