Becoming a tuk-tuk driver.

The many tuk-tuks do they have a central depot or reporting office? How does a thai apply to become a tuk-tuk driver, the criteria involve and the capital outlay?Maybe there might be a consortium involve or on their own.

Don't know if it still works this way-probably does not- but some Tuk Tuk drivers used to hire their vehicle on a daily basis from large companies.
Some of the drivers used to be from the north east, just working in Bangkok during the cool season when there was not much agricultural work at home.
Often returning tourists/farang residents knew their way around Bangkok than they did!!

Well I don't consider it a job, it's a business venture that involves driving. I find it hard to believe you can't partially own a business which you cannot drive to make a living, what if you are a sales executive and you have to drive around Thailand to see your clients, take your clients around to some property development or to drive to the Airport, your still driving to make a business operate.

you can't do it. and you know it!!!

Are we talking Bangkok or Phuket?

Is there any reason why a foreigner can not buy a Tuk-Tuk vehicle with a couple of Thai nationals as a shared business venture and then share the driving between the Thai nationals and the foreigner. I understand Thai law allows partial foreign ownership of businesses, so long as the business is more than 50% Thai owned, so it can be run and operated with the help of a foreigner driver in this case, am I correct.
