Default Navantia S-80 and Stirling AIP Engine for Indian Navy Project 75I submarine?
Indian navy is looking at larger than DCNS Scorpene submarine for P-75I project with an AIP. 2 will be bought off the shelf, 3 will be liscence built in Mazagon Dock and one in Hindustan Shipyard Limited. IN also said that it wants a proven submarine. Spanish Navantia S-80, called the Super Scorpene' and Swedish Kokums AB Stirling AIP Engine may be one of the combination. Stirling AIP-- Air Independent Propulsion is being offered as liscenced production model, closer to what probably Japanese Kawasaki is doing now. Stirling ordered for Singapore's 2 Västergötland-class submarines.
