it's possible. but there are a lot of other sites with that same model. i think if you could add new memes to your database very quickly, you could get a ton of traffic (due to people searching for the meme title, trying to figure out what it's all about)

also, the sites that people tend to like have a little article explaining the origin of the meme, so maybe you could write something like that for every meme also.

you can get quick and huge traffic from facebook with meme's. the script from damnlol.com is shared here on Naijafinder.com, i'd venture to say there are 100s of copies of the same exact model so to make any money, you need to twist this method significantly.. a copy and paste job is only going to lose money..

try something like adding a contest where people who post images with the most views/likes can win prizes, anything to get people to be more interactive.

i think you're going to need something that sets you apart from the other sites like yours. one thing that always bugs me about memes is that every meme site tends to watermark each photo with their url.

maybe you could offer memes with no watermark/of a higher quality. to make up for the lack of self promotion on your memes you could generate a html img and href linking back to your site for people to copy and paste for their facebook walls or blogs.

also, i think it would help organizing the pictures. for instance, have one specific section dedicated to the willy wonka memes and another to the stalker girlfriend and so on...

one great place that you could get some traffic from is instagram. create a ig account dedicated to memes and representing your site. i see memes everyday on my ig feed.

appreciate the idea's lads. can only do some much to begin with due to funding. right now im looking to get a site up with a custom script, then i gradually add things to improve the site such as a few suggestions mentioned above. like i say even $100/month and id be happy

this is my first project that im about to embark on. i see lots of these sites that are extremely popular because they simply upload funny, interesting images and because of that i bet there making a decent amount of money monthly. im about to start my own one! got a decent domain, 6 months hosting and currently getting a custom theme coded which i designed ( i can't code or i would have done it myself ) im just looking to make some extra cash monthly so even its $100/month id be happy to begin with.

i think i could get a fairly decent, active site going and hopefully even make it popular on facebook and any other social networking sites. my question to you, is there money to be made?
