what is your estimated budget?

that will dictate how old would have to be

which might make a difference in what one might choose

Toyota and Honda have high resale values so will cost more if you want something not too old.

I didn't know America made small cars, lol! But even if they do, I'd probably stay away from them. Best small car would probably be something like a VW Polo or Golf, well made and those fuckers hold their value well and go on for years.

I'm thinking a focus or something. I really don't know shit when it comes to cars though.

I have a Chevy Cobalt and am happy with it, it's the successor to the cavalier.

We've got a Ford Focus at the moment, seems ok though personally wouldn't recommend it.
The bite on the clutch control is really weird, not much leg room in the back seat though the boot is surprisingly spacious. Dosen't have a lot of go in it either.

Unless things have changed repairs on a foreign car here is expensive.

US cars have improved in quality. I have bought 4 chevys in the last 6 years and all have been good cars. And I did not replace them. The rest of the family drives them.
