The practical and user-friendly Calatrava is equipped with a powerful new 8-day movement.

Patek Philippe introduces a new powerful manual-winding movement for the equally new Calatrava 8 Day Ref. 5328G. As its name suggests, this new double-barrel movement offers a power reserve of up to 192 hours (or 8 days). Although the watch is officially called the Calatrava, it complements the more casual aesthetic of the Travel Time 5326 watch and adheres to one of Patek Philippe's 2025 goals: to provide practical, user-friendly complications as well as easy daily maintenance.

Since 1932, the Patek Philippe Calatrava collection has been regarded as the epitome of ultra-thin dress watches. Although some classic models are still available, the collection started a new path in 2015 with the introduction of the surprising Calatrava Travel Time 5524. In 2022, Patek Philippe presents the Calatrava Annual Calendar Travel Time 5326, an extremely practical travel watch. With its textured dial and guilloché finish on the case, this new model is a perfect sister to the Annual Calendar.

The 41 mm white gold case is 10.52 mm thick and features a hobnail guilloché pattern on the case sides. This historic pattern, featuring small, shiny pyramids, adorned the bezel of the 1934 96D model and the 1985 Calatrava 3919 model.

The blue dial features two trendy details: a grained matte surface and a gradient effect that gradually transitions to a more saturated, almost black tone at the outer edge. The date display is located in an aperture in the date subdial and is indicated by a hand at 6 o'clock; the date and day displays jump instantly at midnight. A shorter hand on the subdial indicates the small seconds. In contrast to the date and day counters is the power reserve indicator at noon. The dial features white gold Arabic numerals with luminescent coating, as do the vintage-style syringe-style white gold hour and minute hands.

The new manual-winding movement – ​​calibre 31-505 8J PS IRM CI J – has two series-connected barrels with a power reserve of up to 8 days. The first barrel is equipped with a sliding balance spring; when winding, both barrels store energy simultaneously. As the main barrel gradually weakens, the auxiliary barrel recharges it by transferring energy according to the principle of communicating vessels. The power reserve indicator provides a smooth torque of up to 8 days, with the red zone coinciding with the ninth day, reminding you to wind the watch.

The classic construction of the movement is further enhanced by the 4Hz Pulsomax escapement in Silinvar (silicon). Most of the movement's structure is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, hidden under the elegant bridges decorated with Geneva waves.
