THere's a hell of a lot of it going around. If you can get Applebee's for now, do.
Good luck.

i may be able to reach a concession with the farther away place (lanie's cafe), but i couldn't do it for anything less than fifteen an hour. applebee's is an order of magnitude closer, but won't be able to pay me as much, which i'm okay with. something will work itself out, it always does.

aahz: i've worked for lanie's before, and i live far enough away for things to be problematic. i also don't have a driver's license at the moment so my wife would have to cart me back and forth for a few weeks as i'm at the final stages of solving that particular problem. the position that's open there is 4pm-12am, and my son goes to bed around eight, and can't leave him alone in the house while she travels half an hour or so one way to pick me up.

applebee's is ten minutes away, so consider what twenty minutes roundtrip versus an hour is worth.

what sucks is that i've only been working here a month. ****. i could have just gone on unemployment.
yeah that sucks indeed man, but you should be glad you worked. i think it does more for your self worth, and psyche.

A friend of mine at the place that laid me off last year just e-mailed telling me he got bad news at work to end the week and wants to talk.

It would appear this unemployment thing is systemic.

As long as they're hiring, I didn't mind interviewing. I had a real good success rate on these.

It's when they weren't really hiring (already had someone) and were just interviewing to fulfill internal requirements, that I really had a problem with. Don't waste my time just so you can say you interviewed 10 people.

You can always apply for unemployment. They are supposed to consider your last 18 months of work history, so even if you only worked a month at this place, you should still be okay, unless you haven't been working for a year and half.

Also, how many people worked at your company? You and your employees may be eligible for six weeks pay. I don't know how that works, though.

legends had less than ten employees, and didn't qualify for the WARN act like fuji did. unemployment is an option, i mean, my wife brings in about 300 a week, i'd likely bring in a few dollars more, but i really liked having a job...
