A nice reminder of how good some of the wonder movies were for SMAC.

We've been making false gods since the beginning of the species since all gods are false.

Big mistake. The wonder movies in SMAC were all excellent.
It almost makes me want to see if it'll run on a current PC.

I'm sure you can. If it runs on windows XP or before then just give the exe file administrator access and it will run on vista. If it is a dos based game then just execute it from the dos prompt.

I got it working and it plays Civilization 1 just fine, so DOSBox should be able to run Master of Magic with no problems.

Okay, DOSBox will automatically try to configure your system to run Soundblaster. Not Soundblaster Pro, not Soundblaster 16. Just vanilla Soundblaster.

When the DOSBox thing loads up, it brings up two windows. The window WITHOUT the text prompt will show you the relevant IRQ etc. channels that the audio uses. Did you use those when trying to get it running?

I apologize if this is old news. Just trying to troubleshoot.

I never got into SMAC and now it is a 10 year old game so I'm not all that interested.
Dude. Get it and play it. The exapnsion makes it greater, but isn't required.

Smac is what brought me to poly. When I get home I'm gonna try to install it on my new laptop.

Weird. It's a bit long for my patience, but your word is good enough for me.

My problem with SMAC was the unit prototype/customization bit: I didn't want to use it, but couldn't bring myself to ignore it. It really messed up my enjoyment of the game.
What?? Pimpin' your rover I turn off automatic unit development and make my own.

I should try it again sometime. I think I still have it somewhere...
