From the article it seems it's less about revenge or karma, and more about that just being how Cuba treats those caught in their country without the proper identification. I don't feel a lot of sympathy for the couple. If I were sailing around the Caribbean, I would have taken the time to pack my passport even if I hadn't intended to stop anywhere. I'm no fan of Cuba but I don't see anything wrong with what they did. Sure there are, just not officially. It's real hard for the U.S. to stop Americans from going on their own yachts or from third countries. Cuba is even kind enough not to stamp the passports, so the Yankees won't get in trouble when they get back home. People are only infrequently prosecuted. Hell, Brian Moore held a news conference in Cuba back when he was running for the U.S. Senate spot from Florida in 2006, and the Feds never touched him.
