Default Worker dies in Black Friday store rush
http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?se...cal&id=6529135

Speaking of stupid, stupid, stupid ways to die. [no]

Years and years ago, I worked one Christmas at a Toys R Us, and it was Cabbage Patch season. People were getting beaten and robbed in front of stores for their dolls, and it got to the point where we would sneak a box of dolls into an isle, open it a bit, then run like hell and announce that the items were available in isle etc over the announcement system...

We would stand and watch from a safe distance as otherwise "normal" people snarled and punched and kicked to get at the toys. At a very young age, it was one of the first examples I had that the people around me only looked sane.

You mean best!

See, that means people bought lots and lots of stuff in a frenzy. Stuff they don't need, but someone said they did, so they bought it anyway and have no clue what to do with.

I think we'd consume ourselves if we could.

The store was closed to incoming shoppers following the incident. Those already inside were escorted out with their purchases. Good thing the people who rushed in like vikings during a raid got to leave with their purchases.

This is why I'm anti-social and I hate people. They don't know how to drive. They have absolutely no respect for others. You show them one simple act of kindness and they'll treat you like crap... and they leave their carts in the parking lot. Give me one damned good reason why an able bodied man/woman under the age of 50 can't walk their damned cart 20 feet to put it away so it doesn't roll off and hit someone else's car.

I hate this season. Instead of love all we see is the ugly side of everyone. These people are foaming at the mouth with their claws extended trying to kill the person in front of them to get the last Tickle Me Emo doll.

I was on my way home last night from Thanksgiving dinner around 9:30PM and there were a LOT of tents and people lined up outside of the Best Buy waiting for the opening today. This is even though they have been running an ad campaign saying there is no reason to rush in the doors at opening as the sales would go on all day and stock would be high. I guess people will find absolutely anything to freak out over.

Simple. . .that's time wasted that could be spent consuming things we don't need elsewhere!

None of the sales are even that great. A lot of stores are overstocked on things because the economy sucks. They haven't been selling. Things have been going on sales all the time, like that 67" Samsung LED DLP I got for $1599. The sales now are, for the most part, only slightly better than some of the sales we've already been seeing. And most of the products on sale aren't even that awesome anyway, or could be had cheaper on-line.

Even bought the wife a Garmin Nuvi 750 for $200. She's gonna need that since every day of the week she goes somewhere else for her nursing classes.

Edit: And newegg had my damned Antec Nine Hundred for $60 the other day.. WITH FREE SHIPPING!!! ARGH! I was tempted to buy another one just because I love the case and it was so cheap. I should have.. and sold it to my friend who wants me to build him a gaming rig come tax time.

I agree 110%. Especially the part about the shopping carts. Damn that pisses me off.

Guess the Megadeth song isn't that far off

"Killer, intruder, homicidal man
If you see me coming run as fast as you can
Blood-thirsty demon who's stalking the street
I hack up my victims like pieces of meat"

They could have saved more if they bought online at newegg or mwave.

Not always, but it certainly can be...i've been tempted to go to one of the sales and not buy anything, but have shoulder pads on under my coat just so i can check people onto their ass who try to run me over. People can be mean, but I'm meaner!

You know what would be even more fun...

Go in and get the last of a certain item, multiple if possible, with NO intention of buying them. Just get the sale items and haul them around in your cart. Then go to the checkout, be extremely slow, and then reach for your wallet and find out you forgot it.

Then to make it worse say "I'm going to run out to my car and get it" but don't come back.

You'd get to see people turn feral, and most likely rabid. Speaking of which, I always did want to do that alka seltzer trick. I never had the balls for it though. Altho with the way things are these days you'd probably get shot, or at least tazered half to death.
