Default Traveling to the Middle East
I have been wanting to go to the Middle East for ages now. I would love to hit it up within 10 years. Hopefully sooner then that.

Main question that I have, does anyone know the peak seasons?

Also, does anyone know of a good site that lists countries and traveling tips for each countries and places to go? Also need to worry about age for hotels and what not in these countries as well.

Don't really want to go to AAA to have to sit down and talk to someone for hours on end and being sold things that I don't want to buy.
Rather go to AAA when I am ready to plan out the journey.

Not only that, you'll be able to meet the people in their homes and see how they live!

Isnt that better than some 5 star hotel? [thumbup]

I have it on good faith that the only few places its safe for a westerners to go these days is

Oman,Dubai and Qatar.

even then its safer to stay at the hotels.

also Ive been to many middle eastern places they ain't all what they crack up to be matey

Qatar up an coming country ,Dubai nice but once your on the outskirts the country's very quickly turn into shitholes with miles and miles of crappy shops selling stuff that the west throw away

Yeah, that is what I sort of figured. Kind of like Mexico! lol.

Think Japan would be a better choice.

I am really debating about hitting up some place SOON. Got to think about it since it is a lot of money, but it can happen. Just not sure if it would be wise or not for me to spend the money. Though with my age, I sort of figure "why not?" you know?

Also have Alaska on the list, and Europe could be tossed in as well, but might just wait for the Olympics there in London.

Might also just wait a year and see my dad in the Philippines for Christmas instead, and then go see all those Pacific Asian countries.

I've spent 6 months in Dubai and am moving back there next week to take up a position in a law firm. My 2 cents are that Dubai is quite an interesting place to visit for a few days but it is (or can be depending on where you decide to stay and eat) a very expensive city. It is perfectly safe however. It is also very liberal (compared with the rest of the Middle East) so there are plenty of places to drink, lots of hot women wearing clubbing clothes etc. etc.

A top notch place to visit is, believe it or not, Lebanon. Stunningly beautiful and I had the best night out of my life there at a place called the Music Hall in Beirut.

I will back up the fact suggestion that Lebanon has a slammin' night life. I have easily a dozen friends from the Middle East or who take routine trips there every two or three years, and most of them agree that Lebanon is quite pleasant if you approach it in the right way.

Personally, I'd still chose to go to Dubai, but I also take it that as a world city, it's quite expensive.

Iran is safe..... Unless you are a spy or refuse to respect the bullshit governments islamic rule as a woman... then you will have no issues. Iranians are not mean to Americans... Hell they are friendly. But the local police will give you hell if you go outside without the proper clothing as a woman. Or drink alcohol or play "western" music or "party". But we do all these things behind closed doors. **** the islamic republic. If you have an Iranian friend that would take you around in Iran then you will have a BLAST. Awesome historical sites to visit, parties, women, and more!
I have a villa in Iran near the sea... Can't wait to go back one day... I might be dead by the time Iran gets better.
I have been to Dubai and personally it sucks. Dubai is only a good place if you have never been to the USA. Dubai is boring and expensive. The only fun part of Dubai was outside of the crazy city at the tents in the desert with all the partying.

My girlfriend is Persian and I'd love to visit Iran but she's against it until the Republic falls (her dad is Zorastrian). Anyhoo, I'd challenge the suggestion that Dubai sucks for partying. I went to some awesome parties in a few of the bars there...

lol, yeah I know! That is why we are planning to get whatever tickets we can for just one day, like the first day that we are there. Deal with London for the day, go to our games that we ended up getting, and then get the hell out of their and travel Europe.

We want to be able to say that we were at the London Games, and be in the UK for only a day or two and spend the rest of the time traveling.
