Default Posting goods, mainly video games UK
I am thinking about selling some of my xbox 360 games on eBay and/or FM classifieds but I was wondering what kind of postage do you usually have to pay to send things around in the UK, what method do you guys usually use?

regular jiffy bag, 2x 1st class stamps, job done.

the size and weight rules are on the royal mail website.

if it's something pricey, go recorded it's between £2-3.

First Class post - 78p

First class recorded - 150p

That will cover you up to 250g, on average a dvd case, dvd and manual should be around 200g. If you have a particularly weighty manual, or its in a steel book case then add a 30p in both cases. I always send video games/dvds via recorded delivery, that I way know that the person has received them (I'm always wary of tossbags who will claim it never arrived to get their money back)

Jiffy bags, go to Asda and pick up a pack of 4 for under a £1. Don't go to the post office to pick one up, you'll pay the same price for just one.

Ok cool thanks, this may be a bit of a moronic question but, can I just use any regular red mail boxes or do I need to go down to the post office?

Sending recorded you'd have to go to the post office, you'll need the receipt stamped by the post office staff.

If you just want to send standard first class then providing you've got the correct postage then just pop it in the big red box.

Oh ok, thank you. I will use recorded, just to make sure the package gets to where it needs to be. Thanks[thumbup]

Or better - any game (if you buy from them) you recieve from Play.com, just use the jiffy bag for later use. Better to re-use them rather than waste them.

As for me though, if I don't have any play.com jiffy bags (which is rarely the case), then i'll pinch a bit of packaging from where I work, as my manager never minds.

That's true, I try and keep jiffy bags whenever I order stuff from Play/Shopto/XXXSupplies etc.

If you are selling via EBay/Paypal and you want full Paypal protection - do yourself a favour, charge £5 for delivery and use Royal Mail Special Delivery.
Because this is a trackable service you won't get any claims against you from some of those "scumbag" EBay buyers.
You have proof of sending and of delivery.

If you use standard 1st class or recorded then this is not trackable and should anyone raise a complaint then there is a good chance PayPal will side with the buyer.

Royal Mail recorded is a trackable service, albeit not as thorough as Special Delivery. You get a receipt of delivery once its been sent, you can also view the item's progress online and view and print the Proof of Delivery slip once it becomes available online (usually 48-72 hours after its been delivered). Should provide all the proof you need if some useless bag of monkey vomit decides to play silly buggers with you.
