My opinion about Genesis,

peter gabriel genesis, crap, only the lamb album is good

early collins genesis, very good

late collins genesis and solo collins 50% very good 50% utter crap

I also think Phil is a better singer than Peter (not something very controversial, even peter agrees)

I think Peter solo is better than Phil, but So, his most succesful album isnt one of his best ones.

thank You, grandpa. I like all Genesis... and some of the solo work. Of Mike and the Mechanice, I like Silent Running the best.

It all went downhill after Gabriel and Steve Hackett left.

Genesis(with P. Gabriel) came really near the perfection. They have created some of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

In the late 70'is and early 80'is Genesis became a normal band. Better than many others, but not as good as with Gabriel.

On YouTube they have one entire show of Genesis separated in 6-7 files. The songs: Dancing with the moonlit knight is better than the original.

The video of Supper Ready is also wondefull!

Musical Box(the bands who do the Genesis Show, are coming to Montreal in december...

I voted for Gabriel and early Collins Genesis. I saw them in '76 or '77, right after Gabriel left. Collins was fantastic, the only problem being that he's a better drummer than he is a singer and he didn't play drums much.

That's how it would seem, yes. But just wait, it will all be revealed about halfway through Episode VIII when the real Ben Kenobi gets re-cloned and strikes a deal to publish his memoirs.

Way back when I was the "alternative" type I actually thought that bands like Genesis made really good music. I still have all those albums (vinyl) somewhere around but now, 30 years later, I don't remember exactly what I liked about it. Pompous and pretentious ****. Glad I discovered what Rock and Roll really means. And Sinatra of course...

Like some early Genesis (Dancing with the Moonlit Knight is spectacular) and some of the later stuff. Much of the later stuff is garbage, though definatly not all of it.

I thought this was going to be another religious thread related to the "Book of ..." I voted for early Collins, but liked all of the Collins era.

Solsbury Hill is probably still my fav Gabriel Tune. But I agree his solo stuff by and large is all good including later works like SO, Passion, et al.
