Default Nokia Ovi store launched
http://store.ovi.com/

Seems like you should be able to get it for a number of devices. Nothing really good on there yet, but here's hoping for the 20k or so apps we keep hearing about.

Either it's getting really hammered or it is really slow. I did manage to log on to the store and have a look though. I bought JoikuSpot which allows your phone to become a wireless hotspot. Works great on my N95 8GB.

It actually seems really bad so far? All the apps are just the free ones you can get (some are even worse) and then you have wallpapers for £3, which is insane unless youre getting like a 100 or so for that price!

Yes, the facebook app does look good, but I bet Nokia will keep it for the N97, make it seem extra special!

Hmm, I tried to download Skyfire and I got the SMS, but when I clicked the link it said this item was no longer available. Tried a few other free things and it seems to work OK.

You should be able to download to your PC and install using PC suite. If you're already at your computer, for example, then why not? I also find that the store doesn't make it easy to find software unless you know specifically what you're looking for. It's not a very browsing-friendly store.

I really like the outrageous pricing on some things. I guess that doesn't have much to do with Nokia since publishers set their own prices but who are these people kidding? 1 euro for a Hannah Montana wallpaper? Seems reasonable. Disney knows what it's doing and kids might pay that. 5 euro for a ringtone, though? lol, good luck with that dada.net, whoever you are! Also, check out Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. 6 parts at 5 euro each. For that kind of dough you could buy the paperback and pay a vagrant to read it to you.

One thing I noticed is that you cannot preview ringtones, as far as I can tell. Who'd pay an astonishing 5 euro for something that is a complete unknown?

There's a lot of room for improvement here.
