I don't believe there are any "3D camera's". Just 2 camera's placed close to eachother, much like eyes. And yes you will need to wear the glasses. Further information is easily found on the internet/ How is Avatar the "first 3D film"? There have been plenty of 3D films |

First 3D movie? I have a couple 3D movies in my BD collection alone, granted theaters use much better tech than is currently in the home. Certainly nowhere near the first though, 3D movies have been around for many many years. Theaters use a single projector now using circular polarizing, so color and detail is retained. RealD Info
It isn't the first 3D movie...Monsters vs. Aliens was also available in 3D IIRC. Is Avatar 100% CGI? Some of the scenes looked to be obvious but some of the other scenes in the previews looked like live action film. |

I think the idea with Avatar and Cameron's new technique is that this will be more of a subtle 'properly used' 3D, as opposed to the gimmicky method of having certain things shooting out of the screen at you. I'm booking my IMAX ticket tonight. [thumbup] 3D film is OLD. Here's the one of the 1920s methods, just need some sunglasses: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mnWI_u_zBg Still looks awesome. |

The film is being touted as a breakthrough in terms of filmmaking technology, for its development of 3D viewing and stereoscopic filmmaking with cameras that were specially designed for the film's production, and has already been slated for two awards. and
Unlike previous performance capture systems, where the digital environment is added after the actors' motions have been captured, Cameron's newvirtual camera allows him to observe directly on a monitor how the actors' virtual counterparts interact with the movie's digital world in real time and adjust and direct the scenes just as if shooting live action; "It’s like a big, powerful game engine. If I want to fly through space, or change my perspective, I can. I can turn the whole scene into a living miniature and go through it on a 50 to 1 scale." So it's old but the same time groundbreaking. [xmasshocked] |
