The Board of Directors of the Fraser MacPherson Music Scholarship Trust Fund has announced the winners of their 2005-2006 competition.

Recipients of jazz scholarships for the 12th year are:

DANIEL REYNOLDS, 16, a student at Lord Byng Secondary School, Vancouver, a jazz pianist was awarded the CBC GALAXIE RISING STAR AWARD FOR BEST HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ MUSICIANS. He was awarded a $2000 scholarship.

EVAN ARNTZEN, 21, a student at Capilano College, North Vancouver, a tenor saxophonist and clarinetist was awarded the COASTAL JAZZ AND BLUES SOCIETY Scholarship of $2000.

SPENCER COLE, 19, a student at the University of Toronto, jazz percussionist was awarded a $1900 scholarship.

BEN HENRIQUES, 22, a student at McGill University, Montreal, PQ, jazz tenor saxophonist was awarded a $1900 scholarship.


Recipients of $2000 scholarships for the 11th year:
ALVARO ROJAS, 22, a student at Capilano College, a guitarist.

JONATHAN CHALLONER, 17, a jazz trumpet player from Coombs, B.C. He was awarded the CBC GALAXIE RISING STAR AWARD FOR BEST HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ MUSICIAN.

Application forms for the 2006-2007 AWARDS will be available shortly. The closing date for submission of tapes and applications is OCTOBER 31, 2006.
