Thank you Dv8 and everyone else for such great information. My father has had a prescription for oxycodone for years but he only uses it when he has a flair-up of pain with his back. He hasn't used any in months, so he didn't bring any with him on this trip but of course regrets that decision now. I got some Oxa Forte tonight for him and he is going to take one now before turning in early so thanks again Anastacio for that timely post and everyone else for their information!

From my "post surgical" experience, diclofenac (according to wiki) is just an NSAID, maybe as typical in many people the NSAID ate a hole in your stomach or even more likely you reacted to the codeine as many people are allergic to codeine

I just can't see this as being a "strong" pain reliever, about a Tylenol #3, certainly the guy used to Oxycocdne is going to think it's a breath mint

From someone "hooked" on Hydrocodone for about 3 months post surgery for rotator cuff
Small world, I had rotator cuff surgery for a "massive tear".....(left side) on May 19 2011......wouldn't wish this injury on anyone.....

Still rehabbing 4 days a week, not to mention all the s--t I have to do at home. I still take a 800 mg ibuprofen and usually 2 oxycodones after an intensive rehab session. Lemme tell ya, I no feel "nada" after those start kicking in........

Doctor gave me 50mg of Tramadol when I hurt my back while on vacation back in the US. Honestly really did not help much, took the edge off but the meds made me sick. Constant nausea. Wound up just taking the 800mg of Motrin.

yesterday i really strained myslef at work doing more than i should and i can post op. came back home in pain. shuffled in our medicine drawer and pulled out pregabalina 150mg - strong painkiller. took two pills, went to shower. by the time i finished washing, and i am quick with that, there was no pain. but i felt totally drugged, could not keep my eyes open and my head was getting so heavy... so heavy...
went to sleep and slept for 11 hours straigh. miesposo checked on me few times at night and at some point he thought i was dying (apparently i was sleeping very deeply, my body was limp and i was taking very deep breaths)
there you have, folks, the strongest pain killer i have ever taken. one pill would probably be enough to stop the pain without drug effect but i suffer from migranias so i am used to taking two pills of everything
pregabalina is a compound, it is sold at different names by many labs. just tell your pharmacist "pregabalina", they will present you with a choice of pills. comes in 75, 150 and 300mg.

yep, totally over the counter. ethical lab, one of my favourites, makes PEGABAL, 35 pesos for 75mg and 49 for 150mg. cheap and powerful
but consult with the doctor first as it is really strong.

People may be more familiar with pregabalina under its tradename in the States which is Lyrica. It is a safe medication for treatment of pain as it has little or no addictive properties and is not subject to abuse. Just be cautious of side-effects.

oh, yes, LYRICA, by pfizer, is also sold in DR. very expensive thou. trust me, ethical lab is excellent and i would rather take their product (local, dominican) than pfizer.

thanks for the update Belmont... good to know. Actually Lyrica is one of those pharms advertised ad infinitum on T.V. here in the "States". The disclaimer lists of possible side effects are always entertaining in these ads, but those for Lyrica are particularly head turning. I think they mention the possibility of growing a fifth limb while going blind and jumping off a bridge due to depression. Entertaining for sure, but certainly gives one cause for thought.

There is no documented case of this happening when patient had a bottle of Presidente in hand.

You can develop strange dreams when using lyrica over time. Nightmare and coldsweat.

Yo,Domingo, you want to visit a Dominican jail???
You need to STOP looking for "Narcotics" all over DR1!
You may have heard that you can buy "Narcotics" legally in the DR without a perscription,NOT TRUE~

You cannot get oxycodone or similar drugs here. You have to bring it in with you- but remember to have a doctor statment in your name if you get stopped and controlled. Like CC says, you cannot get "Narcotics" without a prescription in this country.

I don't know the posters history but sounds like he has been hunting down prescription drugs, but just to coorect you, the pharmacist would be in trouble, not him.

You can get Oxycodone, but it is very difficult without prescription, and seriously not advisable if your doc hasn't checked you out, it's serious med's.

Something like half of all Oxycodone prescriptions in the US comes from Florida "pain clinics." It's basically legalized heroin. Meanwhile if you get caught with a gram of coke in NY it's the same jail time as some murders. Bad news..
