I've been out of the loop for a while now, and I figured it's about time to upgrade my xp 2800+. Last time I read up on PC hardware was when a 64bit processor came out, and even then I wasn't aware of what works with what.
I can build a computer for about $1500. I already have the monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc. I just need a PC that will play 99% of the games I throw at it, will be quiet, and not overheat during the summer like my current computer does. As it stands, my computer: randomly turns off during the day about once every few days takes 15 MINUTES to turn on will not turn on if there is a firewire port (just hangs at the windows logo) will not turn on if there is a dvd drive / dvdrw drive connected only accepts two media cars (video and sound) randomly disconnects my keyboard, which is resolved by me unplugging it and plugging it back in any suggestions on new hardware? cliffs: I don't know crap about PC's and what's not and what's not. I need suggestions on a pc for under $1500. |

Honestly, you could get a dell. I make fun of pre-builts, but they're not that bad. My grandmother got a decent dualcore PC for like $500.
Or.. you could do it the fun way. $300 - X1900XTX $185 - X2 4200+ $200 - Case + 500W Power Supply $200 - 2 Gigs of RAM $175 - DFI X-Fire Board $100 - 300GB HD $130 - Audigy Pro 4. You could go with X-Fi but mine gave me nothing but problems $70 - A pair of 16X DVD-RW Drives. Newegg has samsung and lite-on drives for $30-$35 shipped from time to time You could save $50 on a cheaper motherboard. Go with a slightly cheaper videocard. Maybe get more HD space. I currently have an Opty 146 and an X1800XT and I can run pretty much any game. |
