I would think it would be better to spend the extra money on lens and then buy a better body in the future when one is more comfortable with dSLRs. Are the Rebels really crippled compared to the 40/50Ds or are they just missing some bells and whistles?

Also are the new Rebels (T1i) worth the price upgrade over the older models (XSi/XTi) which are plummeting in price right now?

Anyone had any experience with Hunts? I'd like to buy local, but their prices seem higher than what I can find online.
And what about all these shops on Ebay? "If it looks to good to be true.." comes to mind.
