Default speaker wire
If you're looking for speaker wire you might want to check this out. Highly recommended.

(the price is in U.S. dollars, of course)

You might be right, Morgs. I hooked these up to my London Drugs speakers and didn't notice any difference. Well . . . maybe a bit. Guess I'm out $73,191.16 for the pair. If anyone wants these I'll take $1154.40 for them (hardly used). then I can get a couple of these knobs.

I didn't mean YOU... I meant whomever wrote the promotional material for the gimmicky sound gear.

Ever notice that the people that work in high end audio stores know nothing about how music should sound? We went into this high end audio store in Calgary on our last tour... Jordan Baskin, the pianist in our band knows his way around a stereo. We check out these speakers... they're OK. The guy is like "oh, you're jazz musicians... oh, well you gotta hear this record." So he puts on this Scott Hamilton record. Now, Scott's a good player and all, but this was one of the worst engineered recordings I've ever heard... DI'd bass up the yin-yang, terribly compressed drum sound, really high-endy horrible saxophone sound, and everything sounded separated and un-organic. Then this guy starts talking shit about Rudy Van Gelder, and how the old Blue Note recordings sound terrible. Yeah, almost like real human beings playing instruments, eh?

Beautiful.
Conceptual art classic.
I once knew a chap in the UK whose speaker wire cost more than my entire house contents.
He also had little white paper cones scattered cunningly around strategic surfaces - purely for their sonic qualities, apparently.
His collection of recorded material was even further evidence of a legendary discriminatory prowess.
Lovely chap - Duchamp would have been proud.
But at least his patch-cords were gold

Anyone seen this new thing called "clean power"? It "cleans" the electricity before it gets to the component. That's good, because my electricity has been very, very dirty.

Does anyone know anything about those uni-directional patches that they are selling in music stores? Kurt Rosenwinkel swears by them and I have heard good things from several different sources. I will say that while I'm not sure how much a patch changes the sound, a bad patch definately causes things to rattle and hum.

Cheers, Mike H

I've got an old lamp that I'm selling for parts. I've heard that lamp wire is good. I've also thought about patenting my fencepost/floor tile speaker stand design.
