I hate Dial-a-Phone
These arses say that the network (O2) didn't agree to the new contract so they want the phone and all accessories back in 7 days or they'll charge me £350, but O2 say they have had no request from Dial-a-Con for an extended contract, Dial-a-Con have taken £22.95 for the bluetooth headset out of my bank which they were supposed to refund £20.00, and sent me the agreement for the new contract but now want the whole package back, I have gotten rid of my old phone as I've had the new one for a week so if I send the new phone back I'll have no phone at all, I just phoned my bank and they told me if Dial a phone want to take the £350 out of my bank there is nothing that can be done about it, surely this is BS, how can Dial-a-Phone take anything without my say so.

I'm steaming at the moment and made the mistake of emailing Dial-a-Con while totally vexed and telling them to stick it up there arse they ain't getting anything back until I get my money back and until I've gotten another phone, now I'm pissed that they might take the £350 for the phone.

It sounds to me like the call handler made a rather large **** up when offering me the phone and now they're wanting it back.

Ring them up and ask if their calls are recorded ( they will be ) Then ask to listen to the conversation on the phone and record it if possible. Ask them to send you a copy of the taped conversation. Then ask to speak to a manager, they have to do this by law.

Also ring up trading standards and ask for advice. The most important thing is to get a copy of the taped recording, it is your money ticket.

I can't beleive how hard it's been just to upgrade my phone, I'm now not getting the N95 8GB, O2 have offered me the XDA Orbit 2 with 600min/1000txt and unlimited data for £20.00 a month

So, anyone got an XDA Orbit 2 and are they any good, I had a few must haves and have compromised on one, I needed Satnav, the Orbit 2 comes with satnav and car mount/charger, I wanted a video and music player and a decent camera, the Orbit 2 only has a 3.2 MP camera but hopefully it's not to bad.

Cheers

Default I Love Dial-a-Phone
I've been looking for about a month for a good deal with a Nokia N95 8GB, I'm with O2 at the moment with a 12 month contract running out this month so I tried them, first I'm told I can upgrade but it's out of stock, then I'm told I can upgrade but it's on an 18 month contract and recon phone only, then I'm told I can't upgrade as i'm on a 12 month contract, if I upgrade i'll be charged for the N95,

Next I try Vodaphone and get a load of bull that they'll only do 24 months on an N95 8GB if I keep my number but I can take a new number on an 18 month contract.

Orange are out as they want £40.00 a month

So I call O2 and try and bluff by asking for my PAC number to cancel my contract and they drop my charges from £35.00 a month to £15.00 on the same call terms on a 1 month rolling cotract which I can cancel at any time .

As I got my last three phones through Dial-a-Phone I thought I'd give their sales a call and see what they can do and they tell me they just started doing upgrades themselves, if I'm happy with my current contract they'll send me out an unlocked N95 8GB as an upgrade free of charge, no worries about the number transfer as I keep my current deal and just put my current sim into my N95 when I receive it, I also get a Jabra 2020 bluetooth headset for £2.99 (usually £46.00 but it's half price plus they'll credit my account with £20.00) and I get £75.00 cashback (stages cashback but it's still cashback).

How good a deal is that, in future I'm sticking to Dial-a-Phone, I'm not sure if O2 will leave me on the £15.00 a month rolling cotract or go back to the £35.00 a month, either way I couldn't give a monkeys, it's an excellent deal and I'm happy.

Way to go Dial-a-Phone a company that actually seems to want to keep their current customers happy.

Sorry for the long post

From your contacts with Vodafone in particular, I would have given them a "WTF?" down the phone! Whether you're using a PAC code or not shouldnt reflect on how long your contract would be

To be honest, it would have helped if I could understand her properly, I think they just try and baffle you with BS but I know she was saying I have to take a 24 month contract and it was just as much as the 12 month other providers were offering the she started on not transfering my number and I need to take a new number and thats when I hung up, maybe they're on commission and she was trying to pull a dodgy. I'm just glad I did hang up cos I got a stonking good deal in the end.

Hooray, I received my N95 8GB this morning, now to spend the next 18 months trying to work out how it works, anyone got any tips, I ain't one for manuals unfortunately, how does the satnav work, is there any special way to transfer music and video, should I use the included software, how do I enable vibration and ring at the same time etc.
Cheers

Edit: now I got the N95 anyone know how much a D900i in excellent condition would be worth, boxed with car, mains, PC cables, unused headphones and 2 new crystle cases.

Give t-mob a go if you still havent finalised your contract. Always had good experiences with t-mob, wouldnt go with anyone else!

And theier customer services imo are second to none.

I just got the XDA Orbit 2 from O2, I got 14 days to see if I get on with it but at the moment I don't hold out much hope of keeping it, I just want a phone that has a decent camera (the XDA is crap), a nice easy video player (XDA is a pain in the arse) a music player and satnav, everything seems to be so long winded on the XDA (Windows Mobile 6) compared to the N95 8GB.

Edit: This XDA Orbit 2 is dismal, I don't know if I got a dodgy one but as anything other than a phone it's not floating my boat, video playback is jumpy and colours are washed out, the interface is abysmal, and it's slow as hell and the camera, how the hell it can be advertised with a 3.2 Mp camera is a joke, it takes 5 seconds from pressing the button to it actually taking a picture, takes a picture about the same quality as a pinhole camera then switches to video and starts recording, I was totally impressed with the look and feel of it but as anything but a phone it's useless, just my opinion mind you

well if your not fussy you can get the stright N95 for free on a £25/mo price plan (with t-mob). Not on the website but that is what i got in the store with a new contract last October so nearly a year ago!

So you must be able to go into a store and haggle for a N95 8GB for free on a sub £30 contract by now!

Highly reccomend the Flext price plans they do, makes more sense than any other plans i have seen with other operators. I also took out the web and walk+ package, which is great having upto 4.5Mbit broadband with anywhere you go on your laptop!

I can get the N95 8GB with 3 for £24.00 a month but didn't really want to change provider but it looks like I will be now, I tried to watch an episode of firefly on the XDA last night and it's unwatchable so I'm definately changing it

Next instalment, where do stores get their staff ??

The only reason I've had all this crap was because O2 wouldn't upgrade me to the N95 8GB, so I thought, fine, after all the hassle I'll go into a 3 store and get an N95 8GB from there, it's £24 a month which ain't to bad so I go in the store and say I would like an N95 8GB please with unlimited data so I can use the satnav, store person says, "the unlimited package will add £5 a month to the tarrif but to use the satnav it'll be £20" I ask £20 a what? and he says "per use" I ask so every time I access the satnav it'll cost me £20 and he says "could do, then again it could be £20 a week or even a month I don't actually know.

I think the totally stunned look on my face prompted him to ask for assistance and he calls over Mr gimp and asks how much the satnav is and the guy says "£20 or something" I ask again £20 a what" and he says I don't know but you can't use satnav on an N95 8GB cos it ain't got an external hard drive.[shocked][shocked]

If my look of absolute horror wasn't enough my question of what are you talking about must have upset him cos he then started blabbing about if I pay £60 he can get the satnav software but it'll cost more online, about £60 or so but it won't work anyway.

At this point my mouth is wide open and i'm pretty shocked I'm hearing such BS so I leave, I know the satnav works as I've seen it used an my mates phone.

So I then call O2 and ask for my PAC number, by this time I couldn't give a monkeys if I ever have a phone again and just want to cancel the contract and the call handler, after many questions of why I want to leave O2 offers me the N95 8GB with unlimited data for £35 discounted to £20 a month with an 18 month contract, WTF, it went from £35.00 a month with a £149 charge for the phone, then, no you can't have this phone, then, yes you can but it'll be a recon phone, to, no you can't have it again, and then, yes you can on a package thats so cheep I can't beleive I'm getting it.

Why didn't they just do this from the start instead trying to palm off a crap xda orbit 2 on to me and risk losing a long term customer, it's lucky the 3 store numptys didn't know if they were working in a phone shop or McDonalds as I might have gone with 3.

I hope this is the end of the story, O2 won't send the N95 until they receive the XDA back but I've been assured that it'll be in the post as soon as they get the old one and in a way all the hassle seems worth it for that deal, £20 a month is superb.
