You're right. Any country where a majority of the people view the demise of the Soviet Union negatively is a basket case.

And? Less than 11% of people even understand the basics of economics.
That doesn't concern you?

Most of the countries polled are democracies and thus the views of the people will, one way or another, shape policy. So if people are wrong (and can vote) it should be worrisome.

However the poll isn't terribly useful since the majority in every country just states that capitalism has problems that can be fixed. I have no love for socailism and think we are too close to it already in the US (despite being much further away than other nations) but I'd be a fool to say that capitalism doesn't have problems. So in reality both the blue & green portions of that poll are in favor of capitalism, which is a comfortable majority imho.

Anyone who buys what the media is saying at face value is a spaz - FACT!

And yes, what a ridiculous poll. Obviously the majority (by a good amount) of people think free market capitalism has problems that can be addressed through regulation and reform. Hell, I think that... oh noes! I hate capitalism!

I must admit that I am forced to agree with Floyd's assessment.

Che, socialism is a form of capitalism since the aim is to generate capital and then redistribute it according to the need of society. You understand this right ?

Che is a spasmatic communist though, not a spasmatic socialist.

Because it is in the nature of a human being to actually decide for yourself what to do with the bit of capital you generated.

Most of the Soviet Republics got f'ed in the a when the Union disintegrated. That includes the Ukraine. They used to be the second most powerful country in the world, but now they're just some Eastern European shithole ruled by a bunch of competing crooks.
Weren't they always some Eastern European shithole run by a bunch of competing crooks even in the USSR?

I'd be one of those folks on the far end.

It's like Churchill's quote, Democracy is the worst form of government, excepting all the others.

Less Germans thought it was a good thing and more Germans thought it was a bad thing... Fewer Germans adopted the principle, "the Capitalist system is broken and we need a new system".

I don't consider the middle position, 'Communist'. Sounds like social democracy to me.

I the first graph (clearly the pro/anti Commie graph), more Germans thought that the demise of the Soviet Union (A COMMUNIST STATE - INDEED THE COMMUNIST STATE!) was a BAD thing...

Pwnd as usual - **** off and die please.

Everyone knows the Union was not THE communist state, not even A communist state. Even officially the economic system here was called "well-developed socialism", not communism. The declared goal of the CPSU was establishing a communist society. In case you missed the last 20 years and didn't know, they actually failed.
