Open Mike?
 

I have a friend in Houston, who might at some time visit me here in Vancouver. He is a jazz harmonica/guitarist. He is rated by his peers as the second or third best 'harp' player in the Houston area - and this is only a hobby! His favourite pastime is dropping in on clubs/bars which have open mike evenings. He plays alone, or can and will jam in with another performer or group.

Are there any 'open mike' type clubs/bars in the lower mainland which might offer the same opportunities? As I said, this is strictly on an amateur status, but if one should thrust beer money his way, he could be swayed!
