don't hold your breath. I guarantee that this thing will be closer to market price by the end of the day.

Since the seller only has 5 sales, see if he will allow you to pay into escrow. if he does, you get to pay into an escrow account, and he can only retreive the money after you've received the item. eBay offers the service either through escrow.com:

Two little phrases I think about when on eBay:
1) Nobody gives away anything for free.
2) If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Not exactly helpful, but thats how you should treat it.

True, but sometimes e-bay seller don't really know what they are selling and end up giving stuff away. It happens frequently with estate lots. I recently found a lot of three watches. On was crap, the other was a beutiful fairly new seiko quartz chronograph that wasn't worth anything; and the last was a very sought after 35 year old vintage automatic seiko. The seller offered up all 3 watches in one lot, but placed heavy focus on describing the pretty chrono, mentioning the vintage watch in one line and only as an afterthought. A few collectors found the listing and quickly drove the price up, without the seller really knowing which of the three was the truly valuable watch. they could have sold that watch on it's own and gotten the same price, and sold the other two together and made a few extra bucks. Oh well, live and learn.

That's almost surely what will happen. Probably not actual retail price, but rather the retail price of most legit on-line discounters (such as overstock.com).
