Default AutoSpies.com Banned from the New York International Autoshow

AutoSpies.com spy Don Buffamanti (aka 001...) was approached this morning by NYIAS PR rep Chris Sams & a handful of security guards, was asked to relinquish his media credentials & was escorted out of the show. As you guys might or might now know Autospies published a, what they called a "reader-submitted image" of the Acura ZDX ahead of its unveil yesterday, which Acura did not find so humorous. Now Autospies are making some hilarious excuses on their site such as "You would think in the current condition Acura and the auto business in in right now they would WANT excitement and hype surrounding their products!", "And HEY, it's an AUTO SHOW, not a convention about our national security! Lighten up!" & "After all, we ARE the number one website for auto shows in the WORLD!". Oh Autospies...

I'm no fan of autospies, but if Acura did not want pictures of their car out THEY needed to make sure NONE were floating around. That simple.

The media press are given intel ahead of time, these photos come with whats called an "embargo", its essentially a promise by the media not to publish said intel until the manufacturer has given it the go-ahead. AutoSpies is notorious for breaking embargos, they did this to themselves...

AutoLies has grown lately but the fact remains that they're still a bunch of arrogant, immature pricks whose shoddy approach to journalism give legitimate auto bloggers a bad name. Good on NYIAS.

besides their galleries being pretty good (except now they might not be since they cant scoop cars before theyre shown), theyre a pretty crappy website.

This was a long time ago, but they have taken pics from CSS and passed it off as their own. I'm sure they still do this at other websites nowadays..

If acura didn't want pictures to be taken of their car, they should have put a cover on it like all other manufacturers.

Hurrah, now if we can only get Autospies of the web the circle will be complete.
