Don't know whether anyone else has noticed - Shaw Cable has put CBC Radio One at 95.3 & moved KPLU to 93.10. The reception at the new frequency is really bad. I just phoned Shaw to complain, & the CS rep said they'd had lots of complaints already. I hope if enough people phone & complain, Shaw'll change it back.

Do you have Shaw Cablevision? They dumped KPLU off of their FM band line-up of channels recently, it was on 93.5 here in Vancouver. I called Shaw and they claimed that it was moved to 93.1. I tried that and it's some Spanish station. So I called them back and they said we might be able to get it on 93.1 if we want to go to Future Shop and buy a special transformer, and that the CRTC (the same wankers that refuse to give anyone a jazz format radio license in Vancouver) told them that Canadian stations take precedent. Ridiculous. Lets get KPLU back on the dial, they're the only full time jazz station in the area. Yeah, their weekday jazz programming is a little lame and repetitive, but Jim Wilke plays a lot of Vancouver jazz artists on his Jazz Northwest and his national Jazz After Hours shows, and announced who's playing up here at the Cellar & ODouls etc. every week. Send your concerns to Shaw at stv@sjrb.ca or call them at tel. 604-629-3000 Cheers, RB |

Yeah, I just posted a new thread on General Discussions about it. Shaw Cable told me we would have to go buy a special transformer that might help the reception... which is rediculous.
Unless we raise a stink, they will just hide behind the excuse that the CRTC is forcing them to fill up the dial with Canadian stations (uh, excuse me, the CRTC refuses to license a jazz format station in Vancouver...) Call and/or write to Shaw to get KPLU back on their lineup. Email them at stv@sjrb.ca or call them at tel. 604.629.3300 RB |

I just checked KPLU's website. You can listen to them via the net.

Hey John,
That's right, you can listen to KPLU on line. But some of their shows on the weekend aren't, like Piano Jazz and Saturday morning's "Car Talk", one of the funniest talk shows around. Must have something to do with broadcasting rights. I think it's important that Shaw gets 'LU back on their regular line-up, it's got to be easily accessed for people to tune in frequently, and we need all the help we can get! I'll check out WKCR.
