I am THE definitive computer geek. Me & my best friends communicate in instant message more than we communicate face-to-face, even if we were a couple feet from each other. I purchased a sealed copy of Windows 1.0 on eBay for $300. I have a Dell server in my room running debian Linux
Whats the nerdiest thing youve ever done? If you guys successfully overcome my past endeavors, more power to you gentlemen. Modified by DSC-OFF at 1:52 AM 6/15/2006 |

i have a lot of geeky conversations with friends about m theory and other science stuff. I have a few graphing calculators and im pretty handy with one so me and my friend talked for almost an hour about calculators and different tricks we know and programs we made. The other kids at the table looked at us like we were super geeks

hmm i think the geekiest thing ive done is unscrew and open up my old tv (21")and reroute the internal speaker wires to outside my tv so that i could hook it up to my amp which had some good speakers connected to it for some nice sound. the tv itself only had a coaxial input so i couldnt really pull the sound out unless i like converted it to rca and back to coaxial. also the tv, since it was old, had no audio outputs in the back either.. so it was my only choice. i guess thats my geekiest.. for now. oh yeah, i hacked into my ipod to change the graphics when you connect it and changed the font of the clock text. ummm tried plugging in the dvd drive of an actual dvd player into my computer (because it had the same ata cable thing) but my comp wouldnt boot up, so that didnt work. ok, ill leave it at that.

Now if we were talking about nerdiness, however... I never knew there was a difference..so I took this test: http://www.okcupid.com/tests/t...38815 Im a Modern, Cool Nerd 60 % Nerd, 56% Geek, 30% Dork For The Record: A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions. You scored better than half in Nerd and Geek, earning you the title of: Modern, Cool Nerd. Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent, knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one up there, winning the million bucks)! Congratulations! Quote, originally posted by Hornbag »Im a nerd! LOL! When i eat M & M's i always eat all the colours in one serving. So i would eat all the red ones, then all the brown ones, then the green ones etc....LOL Thats not nerdiness, thats either geekiness or dorkiness..according to the test..i dont know, theres a bunch of contributing factors i didnt even know existed |
