Make urself a top end limit on money and stick to it...get advice from ppl in the know and stick to it, dnt be forced into buying it for stupid money as AM2K said theres always ways of using the same name.

Hmmm hard one, usually if people buy a domain name it's beacuse they have a good reason and want it also they might not be willing to give it up as they may have based years of work on that domain name and ppl know it so it would mean re-advertising and all that...I suppose it depends on the person who owns it really...make an offer and the worst they can say is no.
As for domains I have no idea, I'll ask my bro in IT...I'll get back to you.

Hello friends I was wondering if the computer literate could help me with something.
Basically, the company where I've worked for the last couple of months needs a website. We've been thinking about what the best URL would be however the domain name has already been taken. The name is ideally suited to this company and I have contact details of the domain name owner. Would it be worth contacting him or her directly and make him or her an offer on the name? There is also no website relating to the URL just a search facility for the domain name so in essence it is a complete waste. It is difficult to base a value on the name IMO however the trading name of the company is not a sought after word.
Furthermore, if I do manage to obtain the domain name could anyone recommend a good, reliable website host. I'm looking for a reasonably well known/reputable comany, which could offer a realistic service for a small business.
