Just got accepted in IT school !!!

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH ! [thumbup][thumbup][thumbup][thumbup][thumbup][thumbup]

I kinda got teary eyed when I got the phone call http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/blush1.gif It's been rough work wise lately always getting generic jobs, now my course is gonna be paid by a governmental unemployment program, it's a college degree for help desk technician (I guess that's what you'd call it) with preparation for various microshaft and cisco certificates. I'm also getting paid ~1100$/month plus free bus passes for the length of the classes [thumbup]

DoctorDulitlBest 01-26-2011 11:48 PM

Congratulations! [thumbup]

Being paid was well that's pretty phenomenal really. I'm pretty sure we don't have such programs in this country.

kSmica 01-27-2011 12:22 AM

Well done - now just make the most of it. Don't let the girls distract you too much.

freddyujnf 01-27-2011 12:26 AM

haha I'm hardwired to multitask girls and course material http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/tongue1.gif Yeah Kyros we have that across Canada, when you've been a good boy [rofl]

Now I'm listening to Trivium with the volume at 11 since I'm alone to party for now

Girls don't do IT classes. There will be no issue there. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/tongue1.gif

Unless he decides to study in India. I have no idea why the girls take it up there, but there are some pretty good looking Indian sorts I work with!

For the sake of anyone that has to deal with IT departments.

Please learn English as well as you can.

freddyujnf 01-27-2011 04:04 AM

Sure, that's why I preferred that school over any other as the course is 70% english and 30% french. Now that was an issue coz the government puts schools that are in your hometown on priority and this school is out of town, but destiny made it so that they accepted my choice [thumbup]

IT field seems to be reasonably popular with girls here, from what I've seen - even some doing Engineering.

Having worked in IT for nearly ten years I've not found one that comes close as of yet.

I've worked with some semi pretty men though.

There are few hotties in digital production at Sky TV, same on their tech support side. Small companies tend not to attract hot girls in traditionally male roles as they are more open to sexism and leering than at a multinational company which has procedures in place to try and limit such events.

I've seen some fit looking nerdy girls in computer departments at the BBC as well but they may have been researchers I guess.

I work for a multi national Publisher and I'm afraid it's exactly the same here.
We do have a female IT director though formerly from Sony.

IT is just not seen as a female profession, not that it's exclusive but my initial college course and subsequent accreditation exams have also been exclusively male.

We also have an IT get together once a year where by all the cross country departments get together and I would say it's a 90/10 split.
