Default Sex and Sexuality - It's Complicated
I have already thought that there are straight men out there who have sex with gay men.
Umm, wouldn't that mean they are not straight to begin.

In my experience it just comes down to the spectrum. Many (most) straight guys would never have sex with another man. Others have slightly less inhibitions about it when alcohol is involved. Others have less inhibitions about it when circumstances make it more practical (military, jail). Others like it consciously but suppress it for societal reasons. Others like it equally well and admit it. Some don't. Others are mostly gay with some straight inclinations, etc.

It's not as complex as the article wants to make it.

Never heard of term, "brainsex" before. I checked out the introductory page through that link you provided.

Yeah, I didn't look closely enough at that site, it's trying to sell courses and stuff. If you google brain sex and look for references to the early 90's book/documentary it'll give you an idea about what it was on about. It was quite revolutionary for the time, but I see that much more work has been added to the original.

They did live MRI's of people's brains while asking them to perform various tasks, which highlighted physiological differences as well as how the brain is used between the genders. They sought exceptions (to prove the rule) who were transgender, gay, bi etc, and they suggested a continuum much like what Asher was describing.

One thing they were at pains to point out, but which was ignored by their critics, was that what they were describing was a male bell curve and a female bell curve that largely overlapped, and they were really talking about statistical differences, with male tendencies and female tendencies rather than iron-clad distinctions.

It was fascinating stuff, and often quite amusing as they explained the gender divide and why males and females often struggle to communicate effectively with each other because they often quite literally perceive the world completely differently, not just psychologically, but physically, as in the actual visual images they perceive are different, their nervous systems are different, etc. It just goes on and on. I found it mind-blowing, it changed my life.

I think I agree with sexologist Kinsey, in that most people are bi-sexual, only some of them make a choice to go permanently straight or homosexual.

I only acknowledge two categories: straight and English.

There's a reason I'm in Jamaica; Commonwealth countries are just swimming in gay men.
