Default Police to ban football tops in pubs for world cup?
Surely this has to be a joke and a stupid rumour? Not only that but I have a mate who is a cabbie, he has to apply for a licence to fly the flag during the world cup on his cab?

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/3...n-english-pubs

I hope this is not true and just someone getting the wrong end of the stick....

I'm afraid it's The Sun getting people worked up over nothing again. The police have NOT banned football tops. All they've done is give them (pubs) some advice about rowdy football shirt wearers.

Why The Sun is Britain's biggest selling "newspaper" (I use the term loosely) I don't know.

Thank god for that, I would have been up in arms if it had been true. It seemed too crazy to be right!

/big sigh of relief.

They still run page 3 girls? Maybe handy checking out the add's at the back for 'personal' services?

LOL, as long as you accept The Sun for what it is (a comedic, satirised and sensationalist view of the worlds affairs) then it's a great read. Only quote it if you can find the same story on a real news source though [yes]

Doesn't "The Sun" make up news as it goes along ?

I wouldn't go that far but "a source said" can usually be read as "the journalist thinks"

Some of it probably, but not as much as The Sport, which is less of a newspaper, more replacement Toilet Roll.

However, they did come up with one of my favourite headlines ever:

'World Hide and Seek Champion found dead in Cupboard'

Genius.

It's a good idea - if they confiscate the shirts, there'll be heaps of topless women around!
