Default Warning to satellite TV customers
I am a happy DirecTV customer and recently some installer has been adding a 4th receiver under my account trying to get free service under my account thinking I wont catch it. Luckily I watch my accounts like a hawk and was able to catch it in time. Word of advice if you have the ability to add a password onto your account do so it'll save you the time and the worry that I have to deal with. I'm seriously debating on getting a watchdog service like lifelock or something similar cuz I seem to be a recurring target of forms of Identity theft.
Just thought I would share my recent experience in hopes that this doesn't happen to anyone else.

They do but its really expensive and the speed is slow and the ping is high due to having to travel to a satellite and back twice.

Ohh... that's too bad. I so want a new ISP... I'm fed up with Charter. But, there is nothing better in my area. I tried Clear Wire which is an awesome idea, but the ping was too high for online gaming. Was now hoping for Directv, but sounds like my experience with Clear.

pdub, the other thing to recognize is that a lot of self-contractors sell and install Directv as a partnership with them and get a commision. That's usually where the fraud tends to occur (and you're paying them commision) One should always go directly through Directv, Dish, ect... and have thier own installers do it. ie: don't respond to a newspaper ad from "American Satelite" or whoever, just call Directv directly and have them set everything up.

btw, as for Directv themselves, I've always loved the service and the quality (been with them since the very beginning (1998) but their billing methodolgy is really obnoxious and arcane. There are all sorts of hidden fees and partial month credits and you pay for service the month prior and ect... anyways, it's one of the most arcane, hard to read billing methods i've ever seen. imo, they do this on purpose to nickel and dime you. Call me crazy, but I prefer a bill along the lines of..... this month's electricity was $124.42 Not this ridiculous maze of fees and paying for service a month in advance and so on.
