Yeah, what is it with this "overqualified" thing anyway? My gf has been rejected for that very reason quite a few times, and I once couldnt get a part time job to earn money for education, because they said my subject implies I couldnt work retail.

WTF? I guess anyone who applies for a job really wants that job, no? Of course not always because its the dream job, but needing the money doesnt mean you wont work hard enough.
That happened to me a lot when I first got to America. It's not that they think you won't work hard enough though. It's because they know you have the ability to find better work and most likely will as soon as the opportunity arises. They'd prefer to employ low skilled workers who will be trapped in the job for years to come and it's not like there isn't plenty of them applying. It is incredibly frustrating but in the long run after about 6 months I ended up getting a job I'm qualified for, that pays well and is a lot more fun that working at Target.
