Default Death Threat Traced!
How stupid is this kid? Surely everyone knows that making death threats on an internet message board is a serious, serious matter.

Even if it's older...

New York man pleads guilty to Internet death threat
A former Veterans Administration law enforcement officer from New York state will serve six months of home confinement for threatening to kill a Rapid City woman through e-mail.
Edward S. Grenawalt, 47, of Yonkers, N.Y., pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Rapid City to one count of making a threatening communication and was sentenced to two years probation.

Besides the home detention, U.S. District Judge Karen Schreier also restricted his use of the Internet. Serious stuff...

It's bullshit. It's the ones that you don't know to watch that are a danger, of any kind.

Like site administrators.
You only really have to worry when he posts a pic of the South Pacific, then the North, then Vancouver, then Welcome to Alberta, then Welcome to Saskatchewan, and so on.

Then, I'd be worried.

The President of the OT is even more important and relevant than this "Obama" character you're talking about.

Let's be frank: I can make the promise to never raise taxes, and be the first politician to keep that promise. Not even this 'Obama' character can compete. I also promise to cut spending to zero while providing all services for free.

This isn't /b/

JM
I know. And BTW, /b/ itself is down since a couple of days, due to a DoS attack *hint*.

For more info, I recommend everyone who's interested in watching the following video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_LGe6bW6jI

You can run the program side-by-side with your usual browsing in the background, it almost has no effect on your own computer performance.

If it's done in a large enough scale, lets say you'd open hundreds of such windows, wouldn't it be significantly hurting the website you're targeting?

So have you turned over all the evidence to the authorities for possible prosecution?

Any threat not reported by the victim is not a serious threat.

Good for thread material though.

The victim doesn't have anything to do with the severity of the threat. It's all about the person who issued it.

Frankly, even if the guy lived in Toronto I'm pretty certain I could take him on if he came after me. But that's not the point.

I could've gotten him in a shitload of trouble with the Australian authorities for his comments. There's many precedents about international death threat comments being made online resulting in charges (including a couple referenced here over the past few days).

Because I choose not to be a complete *******, I have not yet reported it because I think Dale genuinely has some mental health issues and having legal problems wouldn't help him at all.

That doesn't make his threat any less serious or despicable.

Not if they're 34 year old Australian computer gamers.

Could tie my hands behind my back and I'd still win.

I have no idea what the australian authorities would do with it but I suspect you'd have trouble getting any interest by anyone in canadian justice. I just wasn't believable enough.
It's pretty believable in the context.

Not only did the PM indicate he looked up my personal information, it ended with the death threat. That's a pretty open and shut case.

And no, Canadian justice wouldn't be involved. An Australian made the threat in Australia.

Did you honestly think for even half a second he was going to get on a plane and come get you? Really?
Doesn't matter at all. Whether the victim believes it is never a relevant question.

FWIW, in the UK there was a 21-year old German guy who ended up flying up to the UK to murder a 22-year old British guy who was arguing with him on a message board. Stabbed him like 82 times.

I bet he didn't take it seriously either.
