Default An open rebuttal to Sheryl Crow.
She should be ashamed.

Ask her if Josef Mengele was strong enough to be her man.

You know I saw Sheryl Crow just the other day at the 7-11 and she was like totally off on this. She means to tell all of the losers here at poly that they just suck and are just so jealous about her success.

So there ya go, straight from the horses's mouth.

Well she's no Sarah Jessica Parker, but I take your point. Next time you hang out together, could you please explain to her the difference between irony and plain misfortune? Ta.

Unintentional irony. Good spot. Unlike Mlle Morissette, qui n'a aucun connaissance du mot "ironie".

Moi, je m'en fous des deux.

Ca, ça c'est dommage, mais quand même il n'est pas de l'ironie.

Gee, was her message just for Mengele or did she include his victims? Were they happy to be experimented on? Try to understand that the definition of freedom excludes behavior like murder

the absence of coercion or constraint on choice or action

does not include murder

she understands that, you didn't think that thru...
That may be implied, but is not explicitly addressed in the lyrics, which opens Crow up to criticism.

"If it makes you happy it can't be that bad," eh? Well, Ms Crow, surgical experimention on humans made Nazi scientist Josef Mengele very happy, and that WAS actually "that bad."

I don't think you thought that lyric through all the way to it's logical conclusion, please try harder next time. Thank you.
Get a grip.

It aint implied, its a given (assumed by the listener who dont have some political axe to grind)! Did her lyrics expressly address Mengele or was that implied too? Was she really telling psychopathic fans of Joe Mengele to run out and torture people if it makes then happy in spite of their victims' unhappiness? Where in her lyrics did she expressly say happiness may be pursued only by murderers and to hell with everyone else?

what a hatchet job, sounds like you watch too much Hannity or Beck. I'd expect this from them...

These are babies. I have neither the time, nor the inclination to deal with babies.

As a famous sig (before your time) went: "History is on our side. We will bury you."

Anyway, welcome to 'poly.

You're the expert. Seeing how you're from Kansas, your vast experience with oblivion is unmatched.

It's a song lyric, not an essay.

If you spend your life parsing pop music lyrics, you will find a rich trove of meaningless nonsense. Not that there's anything wrong with that... Enjoy!

What's weird is that you picked just one, and this one, to make an issue of...
