Default My Situiation, Adice : Vehicle Related
I have a 1992 Chevy S10 2.8L V6 Manual extended cab.

It has 233,000 miles on it. I have had it sense 185,000 miles. It is a good solid truck. No major problems, interior does not look like it has 233,000 miles, exterior is rusting (which I don't mind, its a truck), leaks about a half quart to quart of oil each change (holds 4.5), and leaks a little coolant. Nothing that is horrible though. Easy to keep up with, small leaks.

Though, there is a 1997 Ford Ranger Regular cab that I am eye balling. It is a manual with the 2.3L I4 that only has 108,000 miles. It has been in a wreck with slight damage, but the guy has all the parts for it to make it look like new. It has new tires on it. The interior is pretty nice, A/C that works (mine is broken, but I think it is just a valve, too lazy).
I would be the 3rd owner. 1st owner put 100,000 miles on it (a mechanic) and the engine has always had Valvoline Synthetic in it.

The Ranger is rated 112/135 while my truck is rated 125/150 (power figures), but the Ranger is about 100lbs lighter. After the mileage on these engines, the power might be the same from the both of them.
The Ranger has been sitting for a little over a year which gives me some concern.

A big selling point for me right now is that it only costs $750 and gets 30mpg. My S10 only gets 23mpg. So in gas, it will save me about $30 to $35 a month with how much I drive. That is a lot of money.
Though I would put about $400 into the Ranger to do maintenance on it. If I were to sell my S10, I know some people who would easily pay a $1,000 for it so I could get most of my money back.

A problem that I have with the 2.3L though is that it runs on a timing belt, not a chain.

So basically, for $750 + maintenance, I get better economy and 120,000 less miles. Though my S10 is still running strong.
I think that I am just a little bit unsure because I will be short $1,000+ until I get the S10 sold, plus I will be pissed off if something goes wrong with the ranger 20,000 miles later, or even 50,000 miles later.

Go to your closest drag strip this weekend with a for sale sign on it for $1000. You wont need to do any work on it or anything, just leave it as-is!

There are a ton of people at the strip that would love to have a truck like yours to strip out and turn into a dragster, S-10's are hugely popular @ the strip. and i bet people there would be willing to pay more than $1000 for just the solid body and frame.

Just my 2 cents[yes]
