Default well I did it, my 2nd day on the patches
after many many years of smoking about 2 packs a day, I called the quit line and they sent me the patches and nicotine gum,

I'm on my 2nd day and all is going well...

just have to keep my mind on track..

[thumbup]
i hope the best for ya. While the patches may work, and i hope they do... if they do not, look into that anti-depressent whose side effect is people quitting smoking... i forget what it is called, but of the many who have tried patches that i know, only 1 has quit while several have stopped on that drug. If you do look into it, then for the love of god don't drink while on it, i have heard terrible things about people who do.

Either way, i wish you well.

I quit 5 years ago and have still not smoked once since then (and i dont get the urge to either).

I had previously smoked for 18 years at roughly 30-35 per day, i was hooked, the first thing i did when i awoke was smoke, after each meal, after each drink, and many more in between.

I was able to quit with just the free nicorette gum that i got free at my doctors surgery, i was given about 3 months supply in increments and it really does help, i then moved onto regular gum afterwards as the prescriptions stopped.

You can quit, you must really really want to do it, if you trully do then you eventually will...

Good luck.

I smoked for 9 years and quit 3 years ago this Sep. I tried the gum but I had a bad reaction to it so I just didn't use anything. 2 days after quitting my wife was in a car accident and I found a pack of cigarettes a friend left in my car, I was so stressed out I almost lit up. I had the cig in my mouth and the lighter lit, but then it hit me how stupid it was to let these things control me and I got pissed. I never smoked again.
