Honestly, realtec, don't you think that I KNOW I JUST F"N PLUGGED SOMETHING IN. DO I REALLY NEED YOU TO TELL ME THIS. IS THIS THERE SO THAT IN CASE THERE IS A NINJA SPEAKER-PLUGGER-INER I CAN CATCH HIM. WTF.

On a side note, the only thing that is keeping me from going postal and heading over to the realtec audio software development team with an Uzi is that my Comcast FTP is still working. (And they have been canceled for over a year.)

There is a setting to turn off all pop up messages. Now only i was sober at this time i would be able to remember what and where that option was.

Here:

To disable balloon tips in the notification area, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.
  2. Locate the following subkey:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Advanced
  3. Right-click the right side pane, create a new DWORD value, and then name it EnableBalloonTips.
  4. Double-click EnableBalloonTips, and then give it a value of 0.
  5. Close Registry Editor.
  6. Log off Windows, and then log back on.
That should do the trick.

I'm surprised you are keeping it together so well. Popup messages are right up there with global health and the war in Aphganistan on the list of top ten world annoyances.

Seriously, dude, chill out/grow up. It's just a popup. I get them all the time. They don't interfere with anything, they just appear and then disappear.

I guess the logic for them appearing is not to tell you that you have physically done it, but that you get confirmation that Windows has realised and done something about it. A few years ago you could plug in / unplug a modem countless times and not know if it was the modem or windows that wasn't working.

Humon = humour?

Presuming it is, I'm sorry but I just don't see any indication in the following comments that says "I'm not really boiling my blood with the incompetence of windows". Sorry if I have somehow missed an obvious sign.

He was being sarcastic and exaggerating, no need to get worked up, but i do agree. Those popups were annoying (especially for me since my speaker wire is bad to it would pop up every 2 seconds (even though the sounds was playing fine)

On the plus side I didn't even bother installing my sound drivers in Win7, so i haven't seen a pop up yet. Of course now that i think of it the equalizer would be nice.

You can turn off the Realtek software, your soundcard will still work. I too HATE those particular Realtek pop-ups.

yeah some popups are annoying but isn't it to remind you ... say if you have speakers connected to the back and connect a headphone to the front ? then one or the other won't work thingie ? or maybe not ..
