Default Why is the Cannonball Run such a good movie?
Or rather, I guess the question is why is it so much fun to watch? Its over the top, despite being a car movie, aside from the initial opening scene with the lamborghini there really isn't a "race" scene in it.

Yet no matter what happens, watching The Cannonball Run never fails to entertain me. I recently was thinking of renting it, but then Dom DeLouis passed away, and well I had to watch it again

Part of me loves the movie because of the casts interactions. And it features such a who's who cast of the time, some of them playing themselves, others playing fictional characters.

If anyone has not seen The Cannonball Run yet, I suggest you do. its a great movie.

Because you are high. It is the same for me with movies like old school and stepbrothers. All and all they are useless, predictabl, over the top drivel.... but with a little help from this or that substance, they become magically deliscious.

Agreed, this and The Blues Brothers. Both classics.

No, you are thinking of lucky charms.

I've never needed any substance to find movies like Cannonball Run entertaining.

'It's 126 miles to Chicago.

We got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

HIT IT.'

Love that film.

It isn't a good movie at all. In fact it's diabolical. But it's a good laugh so always worth a watch.

It kinda reminds me of the old Hanna Barbara race cartoons when they put all of their characters into cars and had them have wacky races.

Cos it's a horrible uninspired piece of ****.

In Ebert's immortal words, "THE CANNONBALL RUN is an abdication of artistic responsibility at the lowest possible level of ambition. In other words, they didn't even care enough to make a good lousy movie."

Amen

I will be amazed when one person can think for hisself and not have to use someone else's words and just because he said it is bad that person has to agree.........

We need more leaders then followers, the movie was good and always will be. Just about fast cars and running from the cops. But today is you watch Cops on tv you will laugh at it, hmmmm

I think the best part was when the car was coming around the corners it was a 3 speed and then on regular driving it was a automatic.

Good Day

I did post my very own comments. I just supported them with the words of a Pulitzer prize winner and critic for over forty years.

The film is crap, it's an insult to both cars and movies. If you want to watch a proper cop/car chase film watch the original Gone in sixty seconds, Bullitt and tens of other great car films.

The original Gone in Sixty Seconds was boring for the most part. The only part thats worth anything is the final chase scene. And even then its a little drawn out.

The Cannonball Run is as much parody as anything else. Its not a great car movie, it is entertaining though.
