How is it even possible for a team which was struggling for survival just a few weeks ago to come towards the top of the grid? [surrender]
Proabably because all the work on the new car was done when they were still getting money and support from Honda.

I hope they can do well this season.
The decisions they made to start developing this car early last season are paying off and they are just reaping the rewards from it.

That's why I quoted Bungle... meaning I'm talking to him, of course you haven't exactly come across as the biggest McLaren fan anyway, so what you say is hardly a surprise.
Yes but people get very defensive when you say you don't support someone, I would rather anyone else on the grid win than the Mac's, but so what? A few years ago I didn't like the number 1 team then, Ferrari.

I loved to hate MS. The best times to watch him where not when he was winning easily, but when he had to drive a dog of a car 100% the whole race. It was in those times I admired him more than ever as he showed exactly why he was the best, while willing on Damon or Mika to beat him.

Mercedes Engine [thumbup] Pretty bulletproof these days too - IIRC only one Mercedes engine failure last season and that was a 'traditional' oil seal blowing. (If anyone wants to look it up / get the correct info then it was Heikki and not Lewis)

Yes, essentially the BrawnGP car is a Honda which had started it's design life last year ('08) but a Mercedes powerplant has been grafted onto the rear.

14 days till the season starts! [thumbup] Live Friday Practise on the BBC "Red Button" in 12!

In general racing news, the Superbikes World Championship has started again! Last weekend saw the first two SBK races and the Supersport at Phillip Island. Extremely close finishes, awesome battles, beautiful racing! Euro Onions can watch the races for free, streaming, here: www.worldsbk.com

As for Formula 1, I'm going to try and follow it a bit more closely this year. Got into MotoGP in '07, into WSBK in '08, wonder if I can finally hook myself on Formula 1 this year. [surrender]

Fek I'd forgotten all about SBK D: (That's what you get for having no Eurosport I guess :@)

Good to see Haga get the 1,2. Hopefully he'll keep his arse off the floor this season and get that title. Would be good to see an OAP as world champion...

Dutch Eurosport coverage is terrible: commentary meant for an animal documentary, no Supersport, just the bare minimum of two WSBK races. So I always watch on worldsbk.com anway.

Would be good for Haga to get the title, yes. But even with Bayliss gone, I think he'll get some stiff competition from Spies and the Honda boys!

Ahh good point, the dirty air from the other cars really stopped overtaking with the whole aerodynamics game. However the teams do design the aero to actually disrupt the air and I can imagine it's still their goal to do so, unless the current changes really make it harder to do it.
your maybe right that they try make cars disrupt air behind them. the FIA or whoever decides the rules don't like this though because it means no bugger can overtake. hence, they made teams run smaller rear wins.

Well the company I work for is the 'Official Betting Sponsor' for the Melbourne F1 for two years. So naturally you think it would have some perks...

Nope. No tickets for staff (at least the managers probably have), and on our website you can win 1 of 10 double passes to the F1... general admin. General admin sucks ass! So much for feeling like a winner.

The new Brawn GP team seem to be doing exceptionally well in testing. Could they the dark horse this season? [shocked]

As for McLaren, let's hope their current form isn't what to expect for rest of 2009.

Yeah Brawn seem to be great.

And lets hope McLaren are just sandbagging. [surrender]
