RFID Tracking Device?

Well I have a little issue. I have a girlfriend that constantly looses things, phone, keys, purse, etc..
about a year ago I remember seeing something on tv that utilised RFID to locate "tags" that you could put on things and it had a "reader" with an LCD display that would point you in the direction of a specific tag.
Looking on google doesn't turn up what I'm looking for but perhaps I have the wrong search terms. Anyone use or know of the name of this device? I'd love to give her one for Christmas.

Loc8tor?

Sorry, just to add to that, the device cannot be a passive RFID tagging system because such systems depend on close proximity to operate. 10:1 that you need batteries in both the tags and the scanner so you can still lose things if the batteries on the tracked-object die.

That's exactly what I am looking for thanks.

a bit off topic, but hopefully scoobs won't mind.

This has to do with an idea I had a while back. Is it possible to place RFID devices on a series of "things" and when one or many go out of range you could have a reader that could tell which item was missing and for how long? How difficult would this be to implement? Also, what is the range for non powered RFID stickers (like the ones to prevent shoplifting)?

It's possible with the Loc8tor Plus, the proximity alarm for upto 24 thingies that is. Not too sure if it keeps track of the time as well, I'd imagine so.
Unpowered as inept said are pretty short range but totally dependant on the reader. Some can reach upto 10 metres whereas the Loc8tor Plus has a range of 183 metres.

damn someone already thought of it.http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/laugh1.gif thanks, that's really helpful though. My idea had a specific use, maybe it's still viable.

edit: those locator tags are bulky. What if one didn't need location finding, just alerts and inventory?. Would this be possible with those RFID stickers you see in DVDs and Videogames for example?

I'd imagine it'd be possible but not with the Loc8tor.
